@efnf+1siBrKhd, I wouldn't read too much into the commentary on this thread - most of the commentators are either disgruntled store employees who are jealous of remote work because they can't do it, or corporate goons who are sent here to support company initiatives. They do this any time the company rolls out one of its initiatives.

I think the two week RTO mandate was a ham-fisted decision. I've been through economic crises and several brutal rounds of layoffs, but I've never seen the employees this disheartened. Once again, we'll all pay the price for management's shortsighted decisions when we lose dedicated employees who are tired of being treated with such disregard.

Really short sighted to blame remote workers for anything. Merchandising is in office in NYC so who are you saying is brining the downfall of M? Stop trying to ruin it for those that were recruited to the company fully remote.

It is ridiculous that JG allowed the remote office policy to continue long after covid has ended.
No wonder the stores and the assortments look so bad. In order to have a cohesive merchandise story you need to have the meechant's, marketing and, planning together in an office.
Good call Tony. It is a shame you have to clean up Jeffrey's mess.

But yet, the workers designated as remote are staying that way and haven’t been asked to do anything. There are so many remote hired employees in states without a corp office close. How will they put this in place for those people hired remote? Can they ask someone from Montana to suddenly move to nyc?

Sounds about right for Macy's. HR always approaching their employees with this passive aggressive manner. Constantly dangling the lose of your job in your face if they don't get their way. They are completely miserable company!

It’s a veiled layoff. There will be attrition for those not willing to come back into the office.

Macy’s to Corporate Employees: Return to the Office by May 13th
⚬ Macy’s Inc. has issued a new mandate to its corporate employees: Get to the office two days a week or face disciplinary actions.
⚬ The new policy will go into effect May 13 and will affect one-third of Macy’s corporate workforce, including the merchandising, marketing, and customer and digital teams
⚬ The company has given employees a three-month grace period to move back to the New York City area.
⚬ If they haven’t returned by then, workers will risk consequences that could include termination.
