Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Qualcomm and quitting

Hello,
I'm pi---d of the environment here at QIreland, manager is not working, getting paid, not friendly environment.
I want to quit, but I need the stock bonus in August. I care about my family, and they are extremely sick, and I really need that money.
When is the best way to quit, and also keep the stock? I can't stand the environment, should I give a notice after getting the stock? or can I do one month earlier?

To me, my time at Q was like going swimming. You see the swimming pool, looks good, you jump in. Then, you see a piece of $h!t floating in the shallow end, on the left. So you move and go swim in the shallow end, on the right side. Then you see another piece of $h!t floating over there. So you go to the deep end. LOTS of $h!t floating over there. You keep trying to find a part of the pool that doesn't have $h!t trying to stick to you and take you down, until you realize, it's time to get out. It was never a pool. It was a toilet. You get out, look back, and say, "holy $h!t . What was I thinking? Why didn't anyone tell me?"
$h!t attracts $sh!t. If you're a piece of $h!t then you're happy with the other pieces of $h!t. One piece piles on top of the other piece, and they think their "career" is going up, in the right direction. In the real world no one wants a piece of $h!t, no matter what their title. You want to identify the $h!t people? Look for the ones who've been there 10+ years. The good ones figured it out and got out.

Not sure what it's like in Ireland but in the US RSUs really aren't much of a retention factor any more. If a company wants you they will give you stock in the new company to compensate for your loss of unvested RSUs at Qualcomm. When I was a manager at Q I saw that happen for a few of my direct reports when they left (before I left!).

But this means you have to have a new job lined up. As others have said, manage your workflow so you can get that better job in a non toxic environment!

You need to time it well. Manage your workload in a way where you have enough time to prepare for interviews and also interview!!
Hopefully, you’ll have an offer (or offers) by the time your stocks vest.
Tbh, if you do get an opportunity (too good to be true) before your stocks vest, you can try to negotiate with the new company to compensate you for what you’re about to leave at the table.
PS. Q can lay off prior to the vesting period.

Know the feeling... I got laid off in Oct. It was a blessing in disguise. In the deal I got a total of 10 months pay (thru Aug 24) and have a new position outside of that toxic environment. My advice, secure another position, get the stock then bolt. You'll be much happier outside of cell block Q. You really can't see how bad it is when you're on the inside...
