Word is that a lot of buildings are closing EOY and info went out today. Boston is supposedly on that list … craziness.

Little Rock is on the closure list so that officially wipes out any remnants of the Alltel footprint

@e6 why would Verizon keep the intelligent when this goes against every RIF during the last 8 years. Many of the most knowledgeable and intelligent have been walked out of the front door because these are also the ones that have higher salaries. This AI BS is going to be a larger disaster than 5G.

@fx I think a lot of the Boston Hub employees are being moved to remote workers. That office was gorgeous-so sad to see it close.

GNT shared a deck and showed that the new renovated bldg in downtown Boston is closing EOY. They are emptying into two other locations. People were notified this week that the bldg is closing. If you were not aware it is because you were not impacted because you do no work out of that bldg

Yes, productive collaboration is great IF you have peers and partners to collaborate with, and you actually produce something besides bragging rights, grandstanding, and holding meetings just to kick a can down the road until the next useless collaboration meeting. I am on the West Coast, while my team and manager are on the East Coast; I didn't do this; Verizon did. Verizon built teams that didn't make sense geographically. As for promotions, in the smaller non-hub, non-campus offices, it was announced and posted by HR that you are not eligible to Level Up or take a new job, as all new job postings are either in Hubs or Campuses. It's discouraging, to say the least.

This is all about how a cost/benefit analysis benefits verizon. These little offices don't provide a favorable benefit in relation to their cost. Closing them down may tilt the results in the employees favor. At least for a little while. If it doesn't, there will be a RIF. There is a clear performance benefit to having employees physically together in the office. The data backs this up. Collaboration occurs much more naturally, freely and organically. WFH encourages introverted and isolationist behavior which hampers innovation. If your office is open and you resist RTO, you will be treated accordingly. Do not expect raises to be as lucrative if they are there at all. Do not expect to be considered equally when applying for a new position. Expect to be on the RIF list when the time comes. We will be expanding reliance on AI as technology allows so we expect to need fewer and fewer people. We will make sure the ones remaining are productive, intelligent team players so verizon gets the best return on investment.

The emails we received were specific to our locations, so if your location wasn’t impacted you wouldn’t have got an email. The emails didn’t list all locations, only the location specific to the person receiving it. my office is closing at end of year and I’ll be moved to work from home.

Why are people asking for information being downvoted? It's a valid question. How about sharing that list of "17 locations"? This is supposed to be about open and honest but also anonymous conversation. Pick one I guess...

Nothing new, it's been in the works for past couple of years, in fact it has even mentioned few times on those useless executive calls. It's just on areas where there are multiple offices or admin spaces

I have the list! 17 locations in total including Charlotte, Folsom, little Rock, boston, west valley, etc. All smaller, non main hubs. Impacted employees just converted to wfh. No rif (yet). We were told yesterday that comms were going out this am to impacted people.
