If you think they're not going to make layoffs regardless of if they meet 30k resignations, you're in for sadness. Take the offer.
When we were laid off, they said (twice) "it's necessary to help keep healthcare costs down and affordable for the members we serve," and word on the street with the VSRP is "business is booming," yet they need 30,000 to quit? Wolverines aren't great house pets.
Your jobs are going to India, Ireland and the Philippines.
Why not just come out and say hey by the way, your jobs will be pushed overseas by dec. Give a timeline and a warning. The fear of unknown is ki-ling me like maybe I should have taken it.

The only reason to take it is if you are close to retirement or already had another job lined up prior to the deadline. Otherwise you are betting that you won't get layed off or that they will keep severance as part of the next layoffs. You are not getting much more with the buyout and giving yourself potential unemployment benefit problems.
Agreed, outsourcing services to offshore like UHG does should be treated the same as if you want to build a product outside of the US and then try to sell it in the US. Tariffs should apply.
Realistically the yield on offering the buyout is at best 10% of those offered agree to leave. They have it all baked in. April 25 will me next event
Out sourcing should be next on Trumps to do list. A stop needs to be made to this and huge tariffs should be given to UHC for outsourcing a large amount of the work.
I believe this. Most are just going to wait and hope a lot of people take the buyout so they can have a chance to stay with the company. But I expect not many will budge now and/or they won’t get there quota whatever that number is??
I wasn’t offered the buyout, but if I was I’d only get slightly more than I would if I was laid off. It seems worth it to me to not take the offer and take my chances on getting laid off
