The last x86 chip will be sold when the last customer wants one.
IBM is still selling mainframes, so this could take a while.

Tell me you know nothing about ARM without telling me you know nothing about ARM.
When I see a large number of gamer's using Qualcomm chips instead of AMD I'll believe the hype, but most games aren't playable on Surface Laptops. If we start seeing Nvidia paired with ARM on Windows then it's game over.
@eb The only CPU people are returning is Raptor Lake. You're just repeating Pat's bogus talking points about Qualcomm PCs. Newsflash... Pat was just trying to keep his job and failed. No one is returning their Macbooks which emulate x86 much faster than equivalent Intel silicon. No amount of downvoting the truth will save Intel.
ARM emulation is trash, as are their CPUs. Very high rate of return.
It is a pretty simple equation. You want a whale? Make something that is actually cutting edge.
This will make the decision of downsizing easy.
X86 (Atom, PTL, Xeon, GNR-D etc) are dinosaurs
