I'm starting to doubt the Metra thing will even happen. Upper management at Cal Ave keeps having town hall meetings telling everyone its probably not happening anymore, and the union reps are saying the same thing " if it does happen it will take years "
I just want to know if the ARASA union is going to stop taking dues out of my check for the couple of months , it pretty clear they can’t do much for themselves much less it membership .

Commuters contract is in the court system. Those positions will be eliminated when that concludes , to provide a seamless transition.
Commuter- Cal Ave Yard
4 - Managers
4- FG1
5- FG2
12- Foreman
There is so much wasted money with all these white hats, 90% of them r useless.. Metra is paying for them so its O.K.
UP could save themselves a few million just getting rid of some of these useless positions
Commuter side- all foreman general 1's, foreman general 2's and foreman are told they are all safe
I have been the “schmuck” for years because I was raised to do what I was told and do my best. According to ARASA’S finest, it was my “duty” to do more, as he tripped over break rooms full of people watching dancing with the stars and ball games, to give me another job. Mismanaged €lu$ter£u€k, led by spineless POS.
Being a foreman would be great if your superiors would back you when workers won’t do their jobs. If I tell them to do something and they do not do it, don’t make me do their job. Grow a pair, do your job and enforce/back me up.
I listened in. @ean is pretty much spot on. It sounded like they could advance things to March 1...not sure if I heard that correctly. They’re trying to get an audience with Vena to keep some foremen jobs, but said Vena pointed out all the other major class 1s have managers supervising crafts.
April 1st....................Don't be FOOOOLsed
Thanks for the update. Can anyone confirm or second that statement.
I just listened to the conference call, and ARASA jobs for UP will be eliminated, except engineering and commuter rail. They will be replaced by managers, all changes will be done by April 1, 2020. You need to pass the manager test, and there will be about 160 less jobs available.
I love the Arasa foreman that UP hire. I just tell them, I don't know how to do that, Ive never been trained to do that, I've never done that, Its not safe, stop the line, I don't feel good or my favorite one is " I don't care FU OF". Then they get some shmuck to go do the work and tell me to go away. No wonder their losing their jobs! Oh well as long as I don't have to do anything. Ha
I think the kcs is the only other class one with mechanical foreman
the silence is deafening! looks like they were probably told/ threatened not to tell cause there is another meeting coming soon....rumors.
You mean "What is going to happen.". Secondly is this only a Union Pacific and Arasa issue, or is it all/other railroads as well.
