There's an email going around about volunteering to join some BullSh!t Tech-Data Council set up to get feedback and "improve" Tech-Data, culture, processes, etc. Yadda yadda yadda.

Either way, Citi's data "remediation", "solutions", data "governance" and data "management" are all smoke and mirrors, especially when they're "explained" or presented to the Regulators. They're as real as Pyrite is Real Gold........NOT.
You said there are 950+ people in Tech who are trying to "Fix" Data ??? LMFAO ! So Sad and Pathetic. Citi has been trying to "Fix" its Data for about 5 years when it should have started the process at least 20 years ago !
Citi is now at Stage 4 Terminal. The only thing anyone can do now is do palliative care for the inevitable CitiDe@th = RRP, Bankruptcy. The time for curing the Data Disease has long past by and that was 20+ years ago ! It's too little too late. The only thing Citi is doing now is putting a bandaid on the fatal Data Disease.
Ever notice during meetings and the Pod meetings there are MOFOS creating more work for themselves in order to look or stay relevant or "useful" ?? They have criticisms disguised as "Questions" and they have millions of Fvcken "Questions" most of which are useless and Dvmb or were already answered in previous meetings.
I swear each and every time this happens, and it happens every Fvcken minute Every Day, I literally wish they would just "STFU = Shut the Fvck Up" !!! Every time those MOFOS open their mouths ! STFU !
On a separate note, I don't think the Trim poster is / was DG. His locution and diction point to someone else.

@1b6 More like they don't really know how to fix any of the data problems, so hope that consultants can somehow figure it out and provide a solution. In the meanwhile, keep pocketing the paychecks while the going is good and indulge in empire building. EDO sent out an invitation for snacks next week. 950+ people were on that email. If you can't fix data with that many people, then you deserve the sack and a purge of all his directs whether he hired them or inherited them. The buck stops with AN. Period

@16q Yes, Friedman was mostly useless as anything other than a glorified PM inventing more red tape, documentation and inefficient processes rather than getting to the meat and potatoes of data. But that, that is pretty much whole of AN's directs - glorified PM's who have never worked for a day in data, much like AN himself, doing anything that even resembles data governance, leave along having triaged a single data quality issue. Invent more inefficient processes and documentation that serves little purpose other than red tape
@jb Yup but he was more of a PMO guy with no real experience in Data. There are too many PMOs here. By getting to MD he made a mistake by being PMO only dude.

@ea spot on. Heard from several people that he burned down the entire place and has created bigger mess. I wonder how $hitty keeps id--ts who don’t add any value. Now he is doing the same burning down data. Feel extremely sorry for next one who will have to deal with the mess big time.
@ea I'm just going by what we were told about his transformation of risk management. Not in Risk so don't know the real story

With the current leadership in place, if nothing changes, data might get fixed by maybe 2030 or so. The incumbent in place is singularly clueless on how to do it. He may have done wonders for Risk Mgmt, but so has Elon Musk for electric cars. Doesn't mean Musk would be able to solve the data problems at Citi if hired. Context is important. For someone to 'fix' something, that individual needs to have a fair understanding what real world Data Governance looks like. The individual in question has no such understanding.
Even if thrown inso something, what would a smart individual do? Surroung themselves with smart people who have done this work successfully elsewhere. This person has surrpunded themselves with people who have never put together a regulatory submission or triaged a data problem on the ground. They don't know the difference between data governance and data management. Wouldn't be able to a fight their way, collectively, out of a paper bag much less a consent order. Ask them the differences and similarities between a data provider and a data producer and they won't be able to answer.
Forget it. At Citi Data (One Data, North Star ...whatever is the buzzword that these performing clowns call it these days), the one eyed leads a kingdom of the blind
