Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

I have literally sat in leadership meeting where I was told that if you’re down to two candidates…one white and one black…to choose the black one.

I also have been given specific DEI quotas to meet for my advisory board.

Utterly ridiculous that this company puts so much emphasis on race and left wing ideology. No wonder clients and employees are leaving in droves.

Mark my word on this…Truist will never recover. Ever.

@hh Hard to do that when leaders are demoralizing and pushing for offshoring to make themselves look good.

@dh BO-M. Chasing those who don’t care while quiet quitting from those who give it their all. This is exactly (part of) the problem. Managers like me are told to “raise engagement scores” and somehow that’s MY RESPONSIBILITY? Jimmy doesn’t care, Sally just wants to be left alone, Mikey won’t eat it…. Not my problem. Meanwhile, the hardcore workers are depended on for happy hours, team-building, and community volunteerism as a group. I’m fair, hold people accountable, and expect teamwork. If someone doesnt want to be a member of the team, I can facilitate that for them!

@e9 were you and your forefathers equally as concerned about how everyone not white and male was treated before this supposed 2014 line of demarcation? Did you personally, professionally, and politically advocate for "merit based hiring" in opposition to the same nepo good old boy show that has been the story of western civilization? You can be honest and say no.

Also, insane that sl!me is censored here.

@e7 I did read the article, he was good not great by his own description. There are literally thousands of people moving to LA monthly that are good trying to be great. He didn't make the cut and needed someone to blame. If you are the 5th best white guy in a room, you aren't worth the $, a redundant perspective. His "in" probably let him down soft with the white solidarity act, as to not bruise his apparent fragility.

His writing in this article isn't special. He's an above average writer, but to lay his failed career on dei is snowflake sh!t.

Also, trusting a ticket scalper's personal narrative voice to be an accurate depiction of his own life, not to mention a broader trend is a funny choice. The guy is sl--e. He started the article with "I'm sl--e."

I'm the same demographic as him, came from less, had fewer opportunities, and his struggle is weak. Not much of a kamf bro, cool story.

Don’t be an id--t. DEI was abused and not applied fairly. It ki-led a generation of millenial white male workers and thats tragic. A decade of discrimination isnt 'brief.'

Did you read the article? He was good but they wouldn’t put a white person on the team bc of quotas. You can’t hire based on race, s-x, or what you do in the bed. When one person wins, another loses. Hire for merit is the only fair option.

Company spends quarter after quarter trying to reach the employee who openly doesn't care, while the worker who gives everything quietly quits. Management cant even talk to the staff about 5 day RTO...spinless leadership. We're exhausting ourselves chasing resistance instead of investing in employees. No wonder we are falling behind our competition!!

I have heard of 2 RMs that outperformed and were pushed out in a corporate scam so the higher ups could pocket the $. No reason to work here imo.

Right after merger in a large crowd Bill announced DEI hiring goals with an actual %. I knew right then what a nitwit clown he was. Nothing about merit, experience, etc. mattered anymore and since then many of our top talent across every LOB has left the bank. 2026 goals are ridiculously high and unattainable. If you haven’t seen them I am preparing you now. Kristin and Dontae have set us up to fail and they can scapegoat everything. They will again do more reorganizations and start to prepare for divestures of even more areas of the. bank. You can’t out scheme the results when this is a people business let by narcissist and egomaniacs. Retail will further fall as it is led by the biggest DEI hire on the planet that no one respects. Until Bill realizes that in order to outperform you need top talent we will continue to underperform our peers.

White male to god: Stop giving me your toughest battles
The white male's god: It was brief and mild adversity, you only notice discrepancies when they apply to yourself
