Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Would you today ...

If you were out of work and looking for a job where on your priority list would you put Intel?

What areas do you think that Intel is top 5 in? Those will be the safest. Go transfer to them and be one of the top performers.

If Intel is not in your top list of companies you would want to work for, who is?

What skills do you need to acquire to get a job at one of those companies?

It is time to either be a victim or go for what you want.

Get those skills, interview, and move on..

Yes it is going to be tough, but isn't your job today tough?

@ev You answered your own question: for the paycheck. If you can't find anything else, Intel pays decent enough to give you a living until you can find something worthwhile.

I would do it for a paycheck but why join a company that is sinking and old school and doesn’t pay real market rate?

@e7 Tough crowd to downvote something like this.

@e2 Agreed. I was hit by the layoffs. I'm relieved to be out of that stress-filled, toxic environment. But if they came to me today and said "we sc--wed up, we want you to come back" I'd probably do it for the paycheck. I'd rather be looking for a job while I already have one than looking after I've been laid off. Would I jump ship the moment a decent offer came? Absolutely.

OP, People just need jobs for the paycheck and benefits. Right now being employed, even at Intel, is better than not being employed. It is a tough job market and it isn't going to get better any time soon.

@ak I guess wfh puts you at a higher risk of perishing in a car crash since you are out running errands when you should be working. Or have you been wfh for so long you are afraid to leave your house?

I don't believe the Question Troll asked so many questions.

Consider this: Intel would rather you wreck your car and perish on the way into the office than have to pay out a severance. That doesn’t happen if you WFH, but there are several instances a year with RTO that people die trying to get to work.

Who the actual fack would want to work there? And HOW in the blazing he-l could you show up proud to be there and believing in the company’s leadership/strategy?

@OP
Appreciate a glass half full > forward looking sentiment on a board that often appears like intel inside:

You couldn’t do any better
You are wrecked
You are without value
You are without options
You should be thankful
No more for you

Outside Intel and inside you is opportunity

You have value
You are the maker of you
You have options to consider and create for yourself
Aspiring to better yourself is living
Taking care of yourself and your family is the most important aspect to happiness, it doesn’t have to be about your job or employer
