Here’s the thing, Fidelity pays a lot lower than competitors. It’s just a fact of the matter. I worked at Fidelity a year ago in WM and as soon as they started the whole RTO thing I did everything in my power to not abide. Leaving early, looking for new jobs on the clock, exceptions etc. believe it or not but if you are licensed that truly does open more doors even in this environment. A lot of the competitors are happy to take us with a nice pay raise

@fg exactly right. If you add up every penny and have a good year where everything works out then sure you might come out ahead. If you have a bad year or the company has a bad year or you have a bad manager or top brass decide to be cheap or you get impacted by the next layoff then you fall behind. Fidelity can and has slowly decreased benefits while increasing costs too. The gamble is becoming too risky.
@e6 your "all in" is not guaranteed. There are some that would take a higher base guaranteed salary than a promise for things that may never come to fruition
"doing a good job" is not the criteria for shares, and they are not as generous as they used to be.
bonus is based on NAV which is not fixed, and along with shares it's up to management to decide who gets what during common judgement at the end of the year in terms of bonus and/or shares. Miss some days in office and poof, there goes your bonus. Severance pay, eligible for retirement....all calculated from the lower number ... base pay. Non of this is guaranteed and they can change the rules at any time.
All in: Fidelity does NOT pay less!
Base + bonus
7% 401k (not many companies beat this)
10%(of base plus bonus) profit sharing
Shares if you’re doing a good job
All in, it’s hard to beat.
My base is $120,000 but all in I’m almost at $200,000. There’s so much more to the story than just the base.
If you’re only looking at base, sure. You might find a gig with a better base but good luck finding a job with a higher total.
I think quiet quitting is the strategy here, lets make fidelity bleed
im trying. tech appears to be a 30% pay cut in rtp. nobody else does bonus and profit share, and base is similar
Nah, I'll just sandbag. Active disengagement is real and I've made it a priority to thwart progress at any opportunity.
