just don’t think Cisco overhired in the first place

be careful what you wish for.. when these people hire they hire their kind. you wh.te people are getting hired.. its mostly some 3rd world people. you might want to thank god for not hiring. you will end up with some pa.eet at top job ..

It’s weird, so many tech companies were hiring like crazy during Covid, but I don’t think my org was at all at Cisco. It feels like we’ve been running with literally minimal talent, but we’ve still been shipping features. I just don’t think Cisco overhired in the first place, so I can’t expect them to fire even more people in SBG.

Someone should make an app where we anonymously could disclose how bad Cisco is - specifically to all these wallstreet people Cisco execs care about and kiss a-s and lie to. Maybe then they’d do something about making it better here

@fg

its just a reversion to lower headcounts, and it will keep happening no matter how well companies do

It is to replace with their kind. Most companies layoff and then refill those with their friends/family(sometimes with higher pay than people that were let go). Even at csco total headcount barely goes down.

@e6 Yes, this! 20+ year FTE LRd a few years ago. I adopted this “quarterly” mindset and so was prepared and not surprised when it eventually happened.

layoffs are no longer correlated to economic indicators

pretty much every company doing big layoffs in tech have also had decent to great numbers

its just a reversion to lower headcounts, and it will keep happening no matter how well companies do

Treat every earnings as layoffs potential. Unfortunately, that how cisco likes to do it! Treat it as a 3 months contract with potential extension every 3 months. Always keep your skills and resume ready and focus on yourself!

This goes directly against the internet’s negativity bias.
