@hp I wish I only had 150 sites. My current count is well over 300.
@hm Verizon can't chop too much deeper because business can't be conducted shortly. There are city and state obligations to each cell site with inspections. If you don't have the staff for those inspections the fines add up! In our market it is 10K per day an inspection is missed for hazmat! Look at what happened to Verizon in L.A., Verizon paid $7.7 million to settle a civil enforcement action alleging widespread violations of California environmental laws governing hazardous materials storage all because there was not enough people to comply. So while some layoffs might still occur it will be very light and most people in the field are handling over 150 cell site per tech which is well over T-Mobile's tech force! In closing, Verizon needs bodies in the field to do business and in the field we are just about at the point to were we can't cut anymore without take millions in fines from local, State and Federal governments all around the nation.
People questioning what is going to happen to our network need to realize it doesn't matter, we are on the chopping block and many will be exploring other opportunities soon.

@h3 And look what happened to Sprint after that Ericsson deal! I was part of that and in the end because of that deal Sprint is history, a thing in the past... gone! Europe used Ericsson too and most took it all back as well. Here is why: The network contractors customer is the owner, NOT the end user! As long as the network contractor meets the contract at the rock bottom ratings but meets it... that is all that is required of them! Whereas the owner of the network has to face the actual paying customers that use the network. Network wireless manged services failed and I don't think Verizon would go down that road as it failed in the US, if failed in Europe... and I don't think the US government would allow it again as they saw what happened to Sprint... If the goal is to end Verizon, sell off everything to ATT and T-Mobile then outsourcing it all out would be a great plan because that is exactly what would happen!

Sprint outsourced their network ops to Ericsson years ago - you can bet the AI Poem CEO Coffee Slurps will try something to make the shareholders happy.
