Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Is there anybody who's NOT looking?

Are there folks who honestly believe they still have a future at Intel and are just hoping to ride the layoffs out?

Everyone I know is looking. You would be an id--t to not or just live in Intel bubble that we are great and smarter than the rest of the world. Really depressing I don’t see a way out and Intel on the resume really not helping

Had several offers during COVID times and they were all pretty much equivalent to what I was making at Intel. Given I am 60 and have enough saved, I am just cruising until let go. Or will get fed up one day with the still ongoing internal politics and just resign….

Several on the foundry side, including myself, aren't looking right now. But, many more are.

I have some family issues going and my direct management have been very supportive, so I'm riding this out for a while until family stuff settles down.

Or I get canned. Whichever comes first.

@en

PEs and senior PEs are fu---d and are in for a huge wake up call. They will eventually have to settle for less. The whole PE title is worthless it’s basically even at Globalfoundries. Just look. Party is over and they are all in for a gut check wake up call - it does not have the prestige they want us all to believe it has. Outside of Intel you are on even level playing field as these bloated unjustified titles

Look at the jobs report. Most postings are either fake or companies fishing to steal all-star talent. This is the new world unless the AI bubble bursts.

Everyone has been looking for a long time. I know PEs and Sr. PEs who have been looking for months now. Anyone would take a 20% cut and leave for any decent stable company that actually has a vision and is developing products actual customers have asked for

@cq I'm at Ronler and fall into #3 category. I 'coulda' taken the sweet package last year but it was just a bit too early. Now I'm ready to retire but would love to have some sort of severance, vs actually retiring and only receiving the standard $300 retirement payment (I'm a grade 57 tech). So, I'm biding my time.
If it doesn't pan out by next summer I'm outta here regardless. I'm 61 and ready to leave the workforce.

I talk with my VP and my Sr Director last couple of weeks. They are all looking and they tell me it is really hard and working at Intel for 15 years no one wants to hire them since they think they only do powerpoint and are not technical. I asked them if that is true and they all regret drinking the Kool aid and not being technical anymore. I could tell one was really worried about his family and mortgage. He lives in oregon and bought a big house and doesn't know what he will do since he thinks he will also get layed off with no where to go and no skills. prices of houses portland already dropping like crazy and no one is hiring. Felt sad for him but he is is a fu---r and so deserves it finally.

All my coworkers who I trust enough to talk to are looking.

Types of people not looking
1) VPs, directors, senior managers. They still have a good situation and plenty of financial cushion.
2) Those in non engineering fluff jobs like HR or marketing. (Some overlap with #1 above)
3) Those nearing retirement and just want to squeeze out another year or two. Given the rampant age discrimination here, these are few.
4) Sycophants who imbibe the kool aid too much. You’ll find these people posting on LinkedIn or ash kissing on Circuit.

IDGAF DILLIGAF? I started with the recommended 6 month cushion years ago it became apparent this company is ran by tards, so 12 month cushion. Probably would take unemployment and make it a 18 month cushion.

Intel is infested with sycophants. That's how you got into the mess being a cult around x86 and the build it all and fail for years. It is cult behavior. Of course, if you are open and sincere worker unlike the upper dead weights, you will find a job.

@a2
a lot of these folks have names like "Naren" and "Kumar" and in fact I know one who has both those names and he definately is one of the sychophants!

Just look for your nearest food bank, unemployment office, free food at meetups, free trade shows, and bicycle shop.

I stopped looking. Tired of the rejections. I’m unemployable anyway. The odds of soooo-eee-side in my future have dramatically increased the last few years.

Of course there are. I bet you there's hundreds if not thousands of sycophants on circuit, LinkedIn, and Instagram right now praising every decision the company makes and thinking the worst won't happen to them. Have you really not noticed this? Probably people that have been there 20 years and enjoy this honestly.
