@d7 I agree with Surest plan! It has saved us so much money with knowing what we pay upfront! It has been the best plan we have been on!

No way you can have low deductible and contribute to HSA. High premium low deductible no HSA or the other option High deductible low premium and ability for HSA contribution are the only options

@qn bs, you cant contribute to HSA with low deductible high premium plans

I pay the highest premium so that I can have the lower deductible. I also put the max amount into an HSA, and I am STILL left paying quite a bit out of pocket. It is the worst insurance I’ve ever had, honestly.

I recently had a back procedure that was $600. They paid $25 and their contracted rate cut off another $75 ish. Yeah, not worth what I pay for the damn insurance.

Been at optum for a decade and use the high deductable plan. It is what it is. UHC just processes the claims otherwise Optum is self insured not the cadillac plan. Nobody can afford that anymore so not offered. There is an option to decline coverage and shop elsewhere.

To the person hailing Surest — wow.
As people who work for a health insurance company why would or should any employee have to pay what we pay for health insurance AND have a deductible AND our services are not covered 100%?! Helllooooo
Oh yeah and not to mention essentially being forced to use OptumRx, because every other pharmacy is “not covered” which is a conflict of interest. Why should my employer who is also my insurer also have access to my diagnoses and medications and then when I want to apply for the company life insurance I have to fill out a form that takes 2 hours to complete because they ask the same id--tic questions over and over? With a 1% raise while CEOs are getting paid millions on millions and stock options
What a tool!

I’ve been with Optum 5 years and I’ve had a high deductible plan and Surest depending on my planned needs. The high deductible plan is pretty on par with the rest of corporate America. The surest plan is amazing and I have no complaints. Clear cost amounts for doctor visits, chiropractic, surgery, etc. I would encourage you to do some further research next time you you enroll to see if there’s another plan that would work better. Again, I can’t recommend surest enough, and I think it’s a pretty darn good insurance option given to us employees
