As ruthless as Doug was behind his nice guy act, you ain’t seen nothing yet. Furner will make Doug look like Mr. Rogers. Get ready.

I won't be surprised if Doug has some knowledge of that Island no democrats seem to be able to shut up about, that info is coming out soon and Walmart lets him go around the same time. Coincidence ?

@13w - Yes, those good old white boys created something good and kept it good. Their biggest mistake is caving to the extreme woke left and letting DEI in. Their biggest accomplishment is having the nuts to finally get rid of DEI, which is globally seen as one of the absolute worst corporate trends ever concocted. Think about it, would you want the best air traffic controller to control your plane, or one of those failing FAA DEI controllers? In a statement from the FAA they said 80% of their DEI new hire air traffic controllers washed out and could not complete training. That’s DEI for you, and, that’s why literally everyone is running away from DEI.

Sam Walton was from Oklahoma and Arkansas. David Glass was from Missouri. Lee Scott is from Kansas. Mike Duke is from Georgia. Doug McMillon was born in Tennessee and raised in Arkansas. John Furner is also from Arkansas.

All white men from the American Midwest and South.

It is still an old boys club. No one should be surprised that pro-DEI policies were canceled at Walmart.

I wish Doug well, too. I worked with him twice. He’s good one.

Perhaps this will be a turning point where Walmart can get back to where it values and respects the US workforce and reduce the offshore and consulting presence.

With Doug's announcement of retirement and John Furner's tenuous working relationship with Suresh Kumar, it will be intriguing to observe how many Amazon leaders will leave swiftly amidst the chaos they have generated over the past five years.

"Paid actor just pretending to be approachable" is the perfect description, LOL. He was vain and shallow and mostly just good at su-king up to the family. He did make a great decision though in putting a guy from New Zealand in charge of the US stores

Ok, so here’s the thing. I’ve met Doug, spent some time with him, been in his (Sam’s) old office and he’s not a bad guy. Seemed pretty down to earth was cordial and nice. I think maybe he’s ready to get his family out of NWA (who wouldn’t). I think Doug trusted people too much. He should have perked his ears up when VPs, Directors and Managers were flying to India singing the praises of the offshore contractors. I wish him well, though, he was nice to me and I left his office with a good impression.

Getting rid of a liability, they always step down when there's a lot of dirt to cover up, just blame the guy that no longer works there.

@e0 Guess he's figuring out they can let him go for any reason and he's free to leave for any reason. :) Everyone signs that dotted line saying today could be your last so while your planning for the future keep that in mind. Sure they have ethics and open door for you to call and complain, fact is all that matters is your signature on that dotted line.

Lots of people praise Doug…I won’t deny he’s charismatic and seems to be a nice person. Sadly, he’s just a reflection of the empty performative leadership culture within Walmart. During his tenure, Doug oversaw the most cruel and disorganized non-stop quarterly layoffs just to please investors without giving a dime about the associates . He was just a paid actor just pretending to be approachable, he deserves no praise or celebration. Please treat him as he would treat YOU!
