About time state residents start writing to political leaders and create awareness about this.

No publicly funded company, getting tax subsidy should have the right to ban taxpayers for life from legally working. Specially Ford's ban is so categorical and blanket that it's outrageous.
Even GM doesn’t go that far (they have a limited time period which is still okay).

A little off the subject, but Stetchin Gretchen has been a disaster. Michigan will never attract significant businesses when weed shops are on every corner, readily available abortions are bragged about, taxes are high, and the business environment is union friendly.

I'm the OP. And I couldn't agree with you more.

When I was SIRP'd in 2022, the part that felt the most like a 'kick in the pants' was the part about never being allowed to work for Ford again. It even said something about working on Ford projects at other companies.

That last part always struck me as impossible to abide by if you were an auto industry worker. If my next job had been at any of the tier 1s, there's a strong chance that some project at some point in my employment there would have been for a Ford deliverable.

Restricting Ford from project work at other employers would make it very difficult to keep a job anywhere. And stating that in an interview would likely make me unhireable by most tier 1s.

I get why Ford does it - but I think it's bordering on making it significantly more difficult to get/maintain a job if you adhere to the letter of the contract.

@an That doesnt mean they do ban on everyone! They hire back because they need the service adn pay for the same. So I dont see what wrong in that also.
If they are thinking that managers might misuse it , then they should think long term about employees and not like hire and fire based on input from st**pid silicon valley rotten apples who have no idea how a car work!!!

I always figured it was for some sort of legal protection. Or to prevent double dipping cases where someone is let go and accepts a severance package and then is rehired later and is open to another buy out / severance.

I knew a guy here that took a buy out and began collecting his pension - and about a month later he was right back in the office - same desk, even - doing the same exact work, but this time as a contract employee. He was getting his pension and a paycheck from Ford.
