Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Early notice of 'drastic' layoffs

I remember it came out at the start of August that Broadcom was planning drastic job cuts after the acquisition. There was no need to say that at the time other than to scare people in hopes they'll pre-emptively walk away and save Broadcom severance money. That's the kind of company we're about to become a part of. Maybe being laid off is not going to be so bad after all.

Check AVGO stock price over the years. Their business strategy works very well for investors and executives.

They difference with us is that we're large and nearly all software. That will be a new challenge for HT and they might take it a little slower. But the end result is the same - read their very first investor presentation on the acquisition, it said it all then.

Whats Worse than a lifetime in Broadcom? - An eternity in Dell

Considering VMware and Broadcom's top DEI effort is hiring more women, that is an unhealthy amount of vitriol to live rent-free.

“ HT is going to absolutely gut all the DIE bullsh-t and focus on being an actual company. If you're a parasite, I guess this is a scary time for you.”

I don’t envy you. Carrying that grievance around all day must be exhausting. You should put it down and take a break, seriously. It’s got to be ki-ling you from the inside.

Milking a company at the expense of staff and customers is just so short term and would ki-l their investment

I suggest you look at Hock’s investment track record.

The only culture at Broadcom is a deep paranoia around office attendance and badge reports.

Hock Tan will make VMware a success. There's tons of waste and after cutting it, you will be happy to be part of Broadcom. If you are part of the waste, admit it and do your best to transition to another job and help your friends who are vital to VMware's success. That's best for you long term.

Culture should be. It’s soo 30 years ago to have a big brother like cut throat nasty company where staff are treated like sh*T and so are customers. We don’t live in that time anymore and there’s been endless research on the success of a company and it’s treatment of staff and customers. You take care of staff they take care of customers. Milking a company at the expense of staff and customers is just so short term and would ki-l their investment

And? So? You might not be laid off. You might end up in a better team or under a better manager. Wait and see or just quit now.

I have been giving polite hints to my manager that I want to be on layoff list.

In other words, if Raghu is $50M severance package worthy then I am worthy for at least 0.1% of that.

No low ball offers will be accepted.

The board of directors has a fiduciary duty to provide dividends to shareholders. Yes, they can take into account if it's a fit, but culture isn't even on the radar.

VMware exes , board of directors and Michael Dell agreed to this sale to Broadcom. All they had to say was “no thanks we value our company, our culture and our employees and we don’t want it destroyed”

They knew exactly who they were selling this company to.

A wrecking ball
