They keep happily chasing people away but when it's time to hire again, and that time will come sooner than they think, nobody will want to join because everybody knows what kind of cr---y place this is. Who in their right mind would choose to work for an employer who doesn't give a cr-p about your safety and doesn't want to compensate you fairly for your work?

@2khx I'm thinking when people turn on their TV and see that the railroads are contributing to the supply chain problem, they might care then. You sort of contradicted yourself there in the post. People aren't stupid. If they start looking into why they can't get things delivered, then they might start looking at the freight industry. Take a guess as to how long it will take them to find out about the class 1's BS and what they're doing to correct it.
If you think anyone outside of UP even knows or cares about UP, other than shareholders, you are living inside your head. People are living their lives, trying to survive and don’t think about anything outside their own bubble. That would be like you concerned what is going on at Kraft or some other company. People don’t keep tabs on other companies unless that company directly affects them in some way. Get over yourself. Just because you are unhappy doesn’t mean the rest of the world is.

@dsj you are absolutely correct! I’ve been railroading nearly 20 years and I’ve seen changes along the way that I hate but I keep showing up because my family needs to eat! And we eat pretty good! The grass is almost never greener on the other side
Answer your own question: Who in their right mind would work here? Are you still a UP employee? Are you in your right mind? Why are you still here? You say nobody in third right mind would work here, but thousands do; are you saying everyone working for UP is crazy or has mental issues? These type of posts don’t make a lot of sense. Everyone has their own reasons for applying, staying, or leaving UP. You can’t say everyone when making claims because you don’t know their circumstances. It’s better to just state your issues and not try to speak for everyone else.
