Just found out today from a leadership call Verizon is closing down 30 offices across the nation, and everyone is expected to work from home now end of May is the effective date

No offices are closing, they are just sending you all home to lay you off thus cutting down on the office drama. Simple as that.
@ez This was announced in the news already. VZ is extending the lease, but must be out at end of this next lease as the building will be torn down to make a datacenter in 2030.
Which offices are owned? Isn’t Lake Mary one?
CARY???
@ms if you are in one of these offices I would argue that it is not fair for you to go while your peers are WFH so hopefully your leadership see it that way
@gs darn. Was hoping all the nepo, shady GTS leadership would get sent home... all worthless.
@gs so literally every singe employee not at basking ridge or hidden ridge will be remote and the su-kers in these 2 locations have to go to office?!
@gs I wish it was stinking, ugly a-s mundane basking Ridge. Da---t!
@gk All offices will be impacted except Dallas and Basking Ridge
Any word on Brockway, Ogdenville and North Haverbrook?
By gum, I'd hate to see them wiped off the map.
@fc long before wfh was a thing and we could only work in office, I had a manager who would put a stapler on his keyboard and fall asleep at his desk daily. He got away with it for a Lot of YEARS before he was rif'd
@g1 Whip 'em out Wednesdays?
True story as confirmed today in Walnut Creek, CA.
@fy you need constant reminders to keep breathing. Don't you?
@fy WOW- just wow.
@fy of course it doesn't create any output! If keys are depressed, it fools apps that display statuses. It keeps them from showing "inactive"
You must be one of our wfh shining stars.
@fc Riiiiight, because a stapler can turn out work product....
@fk it is not a rumor
WFH employees are entitled and lazy
Is this a rumor? I’ve heard nothing about this.
@f5 there's no doubt about it... people like WFH because it's easier to hide. It's easy to put a stapler on your keyboard to look busy. It's much harder to get away with that when coworkers are around.
Lake Mary is being put up for sale
@bg Sounds like your another talentless Vz hack manager who can't manage people. A competent manager can manage his staff and produce results wherever they are. The days of the overseer standing peering over everyone's shoulder snapping a yardstick in his hands is long in the past. Even then it wasn't effective.
We lost a wfh employee last rif. The woman who sits next to me wrote a macro that does what that employee did. It used to take six hours on a good day. The macro does it in fifteen minutes. We're no longer held hostage waiting for those results and the other two wfh employees are now tripping over themselves to prove they can't be replaced by a macrifle.
Spoiler one of them already has been replaced and she's working on the other. We're just waiting for the next rif.
@dr Ashburn was sold off several years ago and leased back. The current lease is expiring soon. One of the other major tenants wants to take over the entire complex.
@bd Interestingly, I've been around for over 35 years with this company . Not to mention AT&T for several years before that. I've seen clowns like you come and go. Opinion vary. Unless you work at home lol. WFH benefits one person . You!
@dp location, Annapolis Junction, MD, in Howard and Anne Arundel counties, owned/sold or is it lease thus expiration/renewal??
@OP Annapolis Junction, Maryland, rumored to be closed?
@bg this is not my experience at all. Sounds like you’re in a bad org with bad leadership.
@ax why do they need to justify it? Are you under the delusion that life is fair?
@as you think the directors only know the people that they see every day in the office? And you think directors are all in the office and not working from home themselves? And do you like everyone you see in the office every day? I didn’t.
@ab people think when they log into stuff at the office it's in the same building. Funny stuff.
@bf so people in basking ridge and hidden ridge will all get to work from home?
@bb it's such a real challenge to say more bullsh-t on such a small comment. Congratulations
I got rid of most of my wfh employees last year.
Why? Half-@$$ed work. Never available for questions or discussions. Forget getting anything adhoc done.
It doesn't matter how you try to communicate... a reply is hours away.
It's all of them, too. My peers complain about theirs as well.
Hopefully, my team will be clean after this year.
AD here. The info that we got from our SD is that this is happening nationally except some main hubs but if your SD is fair it shouldn't matter which office. Everyone should be treated fairly and he/she will ask everyone to WFH regardless if their office is impacted or not.
Well anyway, can you all stop bickering like children so the adults can address some of the legit questions in this thread, like the oat structure changes, which I also don't know the answer to, unfortunately
@b9 the funny thing about your comment is that you probably su-k at your job regardless if it’s at home or in the office.
@bb 1970 called it wants its views back. Lol
