2 weeks remote in BH thanks to flooding?

I heard that there will be 2 weeks remote for BH. Did anyone else hear about it?

@ms - I think you are part of facilities leadership whip expect people to just run. Is it too much to ask for you all to act and invoke emergency procedures. To answer to your question we were working in our cubicles with all the windows screen down (as facilities like to save power bill) with no view of outside and lack of awareness on the impact on other floors. Once the water starting pouring from second floor- we realized it’s dangerous to stay indoors and rushed - we weren’t waiting for email - were pi---d afterward in lack of proper response from JSOc and facilities.

@j6 expect nothing less when it comes to choosing best of the worst decisions from our leadership and facilities team.

Two weeks?! That does not seem like enough time to assess and repair and ensure everything is dry. Water got in the electrical system no doubt, and toilets backing up means its biohazard clean up, too. Yuck.

We were in office witnessed it live - the water was all over the second floor that dripped into first floor through the ceiling - flooding the first floor - toilets were over flooded - 2nd floor west wing I sit close to the entrance and water was flowing like a Dam gate was opened. In fishbowl someone posted a pic - you can see cars swept through the muddy waters. There was no time to take pics - we were more worried for our life with water flowing and power not shut off and no emergency procedures activated; no value for human life - crazy organization - keeping people in office is prioritized over their life - disgusting

Anything less then 4 weeks would be a disaster - we have seen how hurricane Katrina floods impacted back office; if mold related issues not addressed properly it will create long term health issues - mgmt really need to think this through - if I get sick due to mold I’m suing them big time - with full media attention - it will not go under the rugs.

@ht wow! Is there any photos anywhere? How do we know this much damage was done?

@hr the stated plan right now is to return monday, but I doubt they will be able to fix all of the damage by then. They are going to have to assess all of the damage, rip up carpets, replace everything that got damaged (walls, tech, furniture), check the wiring, check for mold... the list goes on. I think it could easily be another 2 weeks, even longer depending on the extent of the damage.

@hc I wonder if there can be lawsuits for this as well since they never sent the email till after the damage was done. I know a co-worker had water up to his windows and stuck. They are so focused on 8 and 9 hours in the office without a care for human lives.

@e9 this was an unacceptable failing by JSOC, and another piece of evidence that RTO is a huge waste of money and overall detriment to the business.

@ck lol. I've already left "home" and have been working from elsewhere, particularly a place with a nice pool and a view.

@cv the ones I’ve seen, cars half submerged, floating by the dumpsters by the loading area, by the parking lot near the exit, the ev chargers trashed, employee entrance parking lot a total mess, flooded first floor by a half a foot if not more, water leaking like a waterfall into a second floor desk area. The people who can fix these issues are busy helping the general public with that mess, to prioritize the Fiserv parking lot. And yet they still want to build a parking garage in a flood zone. AIG turned down the location for that, so it wasn’t unexpected.

Is there any public posts online of the damage, like news sites, or Reddit or something to see what happened? Please don't share anything personally identifiable.

@OP I heard it slip out in a meeting that it's two weeks now. Now remember people, it's work from home and not go to the beach or the store or play video games and check your computer every couple of hours.

Again more stupidity from this place….seeing pictures and the amount of damage they are still rushing people back into the building. Shut the place down, stop throwing so much money into that building. The amount of money and resources dumped by this company just to push RTO is obscene.

If Frank was still in charge, he'd have you there or threaten to fire you.

After seeing photos of the parking lot damage, I’d be very surprised if they get that safe by Monday.
