Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Who is leaving?

Keep hearing that lots of folks are resigning

Can you all say who are the notable ones in your functional areas? Focus on senior mid-career staff/managers, and executives. Should not be any concerns on name dropping since they are already out ...

@dr
oh all of EMIT definitely HATE the new intranet too. but we don't have a say or choice. likely even our VP would say they don't have a choice. We're all cogs in the big machinery

I remember someone asked LDC during the public call few years ago about the PIP and ranking in general, like if it will go away or here to stay, and she basically said it's not gonna go away... So my opinion - it'll probably stay with the company until some MAJOR or GLOBAL change, maybe new CEO or maybe something else. But I am certain that pension will go away before that

EM announcement board shows people leaving through retirement.
LinkedIn shows people leaving prior to retirement eligibility.
Expect 5 to 10 percent to leave in next few months with the PIP layoff cycle.
Amazing that EM will PIP a senior American employee and retain his entire team of poorer performing trainees in India.
Keeping the mistake makers while PIP’ing the people making corrections is a recipe for another Exxon Valdez.

Do the folks in EMIT realize how much worse and useless the intranet has become since the makeover. We don’t want apps and articles. We just want to go back to easily finding the f’n information we were looking for without wasting an afternoon looking for it.

There are only 2 or 3 people in EMIT that are Sr. executive and would need “permission to leave.” And 2 of thek are close to retirement so would make zero sense.

It will be the mid-career CL 28/29 people leaving who have no where to go because executive positions are being cut in half over next 5 years. Couple lack of hiring / retention of young people and 50% retirement eligible in next 5 years and big attrition issues in your mid career high-potential will hurt pretty bad. Is what it is, though. Life goes on, oil still comes out of the ground and they will lie in the bed they made sooner or later.

Why would any of EMIT LT leave a cushy gig. The whole thing is a racket with all the groups. Go look at CX that’s terrible.

I hear of at least two senior IT leaders are thinking of saying sayonara to XOM. But given their CL, I think they have to ask permission. The more we outsource and buy SaaS, the less actual influence IT will have. Influencing vendors and MSPs will be the top leadership skill needed. Then the only important IT job will be cybersecurity, and the VP and IT manager in those spots are only one incident away from losing their jobs.
