Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Ford scams

They tell ppl what they want to hear knowing they have no intention of holding up their word

Their word means nothing

In the future I will personally be blackballing anyone even remotely partnered with ford

Good night

That's amazing! Did the founding fathers establish equal opportunity for the slaves and Native Americans too?!

Isn't it funny how white men don't make any effort to put an end to racism or s-xism or bigotry, but the very moment that white men feel they are being treated unfairly - even if it's not true - they bring the entire house down to stop the thing that they feel is treating them unfairly?

How do you suggest minorities gain equality in this country?

@gg That all sounds good in theory, and I'm sure the DEI intentions were noble. But the reality is there are a lot of recent examples, from police chiefs, university heads, and many others where it's obvious that the person was not selected based on merit. Ford also backed away from the HRC Equity index because DEI was corrupted into equal outcomes instead of opportunities.

That's not what DEI is or ever has been.

It is just equal opportunity. The most qualified individual gets the role.

They do studies each year on LinkedIn. Two identical resumes - one with a name like Dave Smith and the other with a name like Malik Washington - are submitted to a large number of job postings at the same time. The Dave Smith application gets significantly more call backs than the Malik Washington resume.

This was diacussed here on this forum couple of years ago. Some white collages eventually opened up that they were just more comfortable around people who look like them - and suspected that the black colleagues felt the same way. That's all true. And it's normal. It's called a 'bias'. Sometimes we dont even know that we have them.

But when those biases exist within people doing the hiring / firing / enforcement, then unequal outcomes happen.

Ford, and every other major corporation in this country, is, by far, run by older white men. So it shouldn't be a surprise when their comfort zones result in the selection of mostly white applicants - even when compared to equally qualified individuals of other races.

DEI exists to ensure that those types of biases don't deny properly qualified people from consideration.

And even then, the outcomes are often the same, sadly. Even when all else is equal, people tend to hire those that they're most comfortable around. And when there are mostly white men in positions of power - they are less likely to non white men - even though they may say how they only evaluate 'qualifications and character'. It's the other thing that has a bigger impact in their decision making.

@fe We already have equal opportunity, that is one of the founding precepts of the USA. DEI isn't about equal opportunity, it's about ensuring equal outcomes. DEI seeks to promote/reward people based on their real or claimed attributes, not on merit or abilities.

What is that you people hate so much about Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion?

This isn't a zero sum game.

Ensuring that others have equal opportunity does not negatively impact anybody.

So what is it about DEI that upsets you?

It is hard for some of you to hear it, but Ford is doing fine. They don't lie about anything. Your employment here was never guaranteed. Just like you never owed them anything - they never owed you. If you are unhappy, then leave.

Staying here and making idle threats does nothing but make yourselves even more miserable.

DF. JF, BF would be ashamed to read these posts from employees. That's why I believe most of the negative and vindictive posts about Ford and Ford leadership are from non-employees or former Ford employees.

@bh+1jw5sd97h ladies and gentlemen. We have here our ford ranger. Feast your eyes on the individual who grabbed straws and missed the point. Classic example of an employee in ford that looks away at criminal behavior. He’s perfect! Promote him!

Ford has been going strong for over 100 years. People can say they hate Ford all they want, but Ford will be going for another 100 years easily.

After the 2018 and 2022 layoffs, people on this site INSISTED that Ford would be bankrupt within a handful of years, but Ford is still sitting on a pile of cash.

The one thing JF got right was his approach yo DEI. He very publicly stated that Ford lagged behind competitors regarding DEI. So he focused on fixing that issue and was successful. Ford is now more DIVERSE than ever before. And it has made us STRONGER than ever before.

Ford isn't going away. In fact, Ford is only getting better.

If Ford isn't for you - that's ok. Just leave. GM and Chrysler (Stellantis) are hiring.

@b9+1jw5sd97h no it’s too late. Can u please attend this meeting with an advisor where I take your personal information and then try to start covertly emailing you a blackmail? Also simultaneously I need you to report to my version of speak up against us falsifying official documents regarding the previous year. If you can do this I can continue with the next phase which will be coercion (this is a joke obviously but highlighting abusurdity by ford). Can you please sign this document after too. Please?
