WARN notices effective 9/7 -9/20

I received my notice today. The Warn letter stated that my effective day will be between September 7th and September 20th. That means they'll be letting people know until September 20th.

@dp no I was wondering about all the ones that take vto and average 20-30 hours a week.

@de Huh? They aren't going to pay you overtime if that's what you are asking. Is anyone hourly at Citi? You get paid 2 weeks for every year of service based on a 40 hour work week.

So is severance paid for 40 hours or just what hours you average a week working?

@ad that's literally exactly what I'm saying. Today is the 11th. That means people will be notified up until the 20th. I'm just giving people a heads up that there's another round of cuts next week in New York and New Jersey area

Your WARN notice will state your official termination date. Because New York requires a 90-day notice period where as Tampa 60 days, employers often place you on "garden leave". This means you stop working on your last day in the office (e.g., 6/12), but remain on regular pay until the official termination date 90 days later (e.g., 9/11) followed one time severance pay.

The notices establish date ranges for multiple layoffs rather than targeting specific individuals, making them general announcements.

@OP
I think "effective date" means separation date which for NY is 90 days later.
not sure why they provided a 10-day range for separation day here.
