Already got notified that I need to provide names by April 1st… we’re surviving the 03/19 wave but since I’m being asked to provide names it’s safe to assume there’s at least one round in April. Anyone else get notified? (GL30 here)

@dg then what are the names for? Of rif is not related to the names and decided but the "system"?
@em termination date
@dn lie they knew, probably even put in your name. They have to provide names x out of y in their team
@cc what area
@dp why would they pick a 5 over so soon one with lower ratings unless it was the entire team.. did it have to do with your specific domain/ skill set that was replaced by offshore?
@cc will they provide new downsizing dates once 4/30 group has been notified?
@c6 grade level 30. Usually a director.
@dw you seem like the reason we have to take Violence in the Workplace training
VPs know way in advance. They are asked who to RIF. Unless it's an entire department . Managers and directors don't usually know until the day before when they are given the list of names and asked to take a class at noon, they usually say it has to be done by a certain period of time in the morning maybe 10 o’clock then they have a group meeting with the rest of whoever’s left to let them know that they couldn’t help but lay that department off for those individuals off and the things are gonna be good after this, but the refs keep coming
@cc what does term dates mean?
Idk what is worse. Being laid off. Or not being chosen and then the work tasks multiply. It is hard to stay on task as it is now
@c8 my boss was a gl 30 and had no idea. It all depends on leadership. From my understanding leaders know 30 days prior.
@dv I received it the day of at 9am for a 10am 15 minute call. It was a cold, emotionless call. I know they have to read from a script but it was just so cold. I think that’s what hurt the most.
@dg you still have indication. You guys lie.
@cm you still know. Fu-k you.
@dp when did you get your meeting invite to let you know you were RIF’d? Day before? Same day?
Sadly it’s a mixed bag of high performers and low. I was part of the 2/6 gl28. Received all 5’s the last several years as well as super hero nominee the last few years. It is absolutely disgusting how the company is treating people. No one is safe.
@OP I was RIF’d on 2/6. I was told by my entire leadership team that no one asked for names for that layoff round. Was that not true?
For the ones that pick names: Is it a mix of mediocre and low performers? The mid folks are usually the bulk of your teams, no? At the end of the day, it's a business decision. Money has to be somewhere in the equation. I've seen high performers get axed. The ones who actually cared about their job. Took them by surprise.
@c8 Being asked to provide names is different than being asked who to RIF in general. The system will still decide who gets RIF’d but I have to provide names regardless. Educate yourself before you throw out meaningless accusations.
@d4 as someone said earlier, we’re just asked to provide names. It doesn’t mean that they automatically being RIF’d but simply asked for names because we have to. I oversee four teams and so I’ll be providing four names and see what happens. In the end, who is chosen and such is not up to me. I’ll still be notified at some point closer to the date who the actual names are (potentially a week before if that) because the trainings get scheduled.
And how many names were you asked to provide? I doubt any because that is not how it works.
@d1 I am not trying to be condescending but that is expecting a lot out of non-professional clinical employees or call center staff. Most punch in and out and do not look at the fine print, Sparq, etc. ever.
@cz
Grade level is shown right on your manager reviews. And on compensation statement. I'm sure it shows up in many other places too. Seems odd to me that so many miss it. Maybe if they are here less than a year? But even then, isn't in the offer letter?
@c7 people in clinics or call centers (probably 80%+ of all UHG staff) likely don’t know pay grades much if at all. Not surprising the typical poster here would ask, given how many aren’t really ever told or shown.
@c8 being asked to provide names doesn’t mean you know who is cut. Usually every one in a division is asked to provide names and then the algorithm does the rest. If they don’t provide names? Fired and the next affable hire will do it.
You are very naive if you think the system cares about your resistance to its layoffs.
@OP what area? I had this list of dates:
In a meeting conducted yesterday, the following Optum 2026 Downsizing Notification Calendar was shared:
Notification Dates:
1/22/26
2/19/26
3/19/26
4/30/26
Term Dates:
2/5/26
3/5/26
4/2/26
5/14/16
Funny you grade 30s claim you “don’t get to know who until a day or day of the layoff” yet you are here posting damn well a month ahead. Liars
@c6 Grade Level 30. Odd you didn't catch that.
What is GL30?
Medical operations or tech?
Yes
There was a post a few months ago that there will be a RIF at the end of April so not surprised
Division or group name?
