Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Week of August 25th will be the beginning of the end for many employees.

Pretty much all reviews completed this week. Lots of meetings this week. Lots of Not Met scores on Reviews that usually would be Met. I have almost 30 years and can tell I am on the List. But, I have a feeling if I do get terminated it will be a Blessing in disguise. I will be rid of this Wretched Place.

Can anyone elaborate on this folklore of LL6 getting promoted LL5 and then fired? What's that about?

Let's see: New to the team, manager's other team is top 5 initiative and mine is not, pension, higher salary, old, white, male. Oh, yeah, I'm going to make it...

How big would the change be? In times like these, people who feel safe often aren't, while those who feel unsafe might get lucky. Everything could be turned upside down.

@ea Some A players were getting on the field for the first time and didn't know any better. Traumatizing experience. Especially if you've been playing this sport all your life.

@d8

The only reason that "talent" was accessible to Ford in the 1st place was due to big Tech layoffs of B players. Some A players but for the most part Ford thought it was getting a deal and the "talent" was taking what it could get.

I had my mid-year with my LL5 and he said candidly that I smell of weed and come in with bloodshot eyes and that he feels it is impacting my performance and hit me with an inconsistent should I look for a new job?? I feel a pip is coming next.

@a9 The CA Warn notice for Irvine was communicated with all employees prior and was part of the process of moving staff to Long Beach. Skunkworks layoff plans do not look imminent but one can never know eh? The whole EV thing is riding on a great deal of risk and unknowns regarding success. Turnover will be high over the next 2 years because stock refeshers are poor and many are jumping back to big tech.

This is long overdue. There are much too many engineer types at Ford and just look at the performance of our current legacy products. Terrible! Too many recalls. This is why thr Ford+ Plan is shifting to electric and software based services. Much less can go wrong and mostly new outside expertise has been brought in to deliver it under Model e..

Employees at large know this.

I was laid off after I got my 30 years in. It had nothing to do with performance and had everything to do with being pension eligible. I had 30 years but was not old enough to retire. I can not stress enough how leaving Ford was the Best unplanned Blessing that ever happened to me. I didn’t realize how bad the management and organization I worked for was until I got to work for a company that had actual leadership, a great culture, and actually cares about its employees that bring years of experience that they value. I hope the best for any of you that may get impacted.

I was eliminated last week. Not an executive, not a poor performer, but trying to see it as a blessing in disguise. My parents think so for the way I’ve been treated over the past year.

Lay off, rehire , repeat. Nothing is completed. This is new Ford's leadership. As long as investors are aware of reductions, nothing else matters.

@a8 anecdotal but I had access to an HR employees meeting titles and one of them was CA warn letters which 60 days out mapped to August 28th. It might have had to do with the Irvine layoffs but could also mean layoffs are on the horizon.

The beginning of the end....possibly for employment at Ford. But again, nothing says this is going to happen and yes probably for the better. No tears, just smile and walk away.
