Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Everybody is afraid

If the goal of all of this was to create a fear-filled work environment, then it worked. Everybody is afraid all the time of possible layoffs. This is affecting morale, productivity, and overall company culture. Why any leadership would like for its workforce to be in this state is beyond me, but here we are.

Well, I just don't feel this way anymore. I was scared at first, but now I just don't care. It's really nice, too. I used to stress this job so much and put in so much effort, always rated a 1, sometimes a 2. As much work as they send to offshore contracts now, knowing these people can't do the jobs correctly, I'm not putting that effort in anymore. I'll take my 3 rating and work half as much.

Afraid? No, not afraid. Numb is the word. So tired of this mickey mouse bullsh-t direction by management. Yeah yeah, get off of the train. I get it.

@dnr+1s5hrFk3 - this is why…from a certain point of view… There is a vague silver lining to being part of the first wave of layoffs…because of severance. Even so, this does not make me feel any better because (to echo other replies) anybody laid off in the future could possibly either receive less severance, or worst case…none as a result of getting fired due to some ridiculous cause. I hope im wrong. Still blows that good people are going to get more sc--wed and that pains me.

To those who are reading this thread, who still have a job with Citi, please keep your options open, have a plan B. Anytime you see a Town hall, always think of "everything is awesome" from the Lego movie.

So the most recent hires (with the least severance) are the most vulnerable?

Citi has declared loss due to Severance pay this qtr. They will try to remain calm for next 1 or 2 qtrs. But will try to silently let go people due to compliance , return to office, performance where they don't have to pay Severance.

It's because they're trying to get people to quit so they don't have to pay out severance.
