Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Are we 100x yet?

Asking for an IT head, who promised it 3 years ago.

@dn He is trying to solve a problem which doesn’t exist. Mainframe and future support can be a legitimate issue, dead silence on that. It needs real back breaking work with nothing to show in tiktok.

100x was and continues to be a biggest insult to the staff and actually doesn't align to our United values of "always assume good intent". If we assume people have good intentions, then they should already be working to their full capacity. That was actually one thing I really always loved about this company in all of the 20 years I've worked here, people knew that other people were doing their jobs and assumed it. There was never any question as to people leaving early or being sick or whatever. That's part of what made this company so successful. This change in attitude is what is ki-ling it. If the bottom line continues to be the only thing we care about, what is the point of any of the work we do other than "money". That doesn't motivate people, especially when they don't see any of it. Raised haven't kept up with cost of living. Living in fear and working 16 hour days isn't producing anything of value.

@b5 I can only hope.

The problem is this entire company seems to have a ha---n for AI projects that never go anywhere. And as long as Dipsheet is grifting AI slop as he does, leaders are going to continue to be fooled into thinking this guy knows what he's talking about.

Well they 100x fired some senior people in ESRO because they f-ed up big time, Aimee, Nico, Gretchen.. and the tripe from Change. There will be changes in IT executive leadership. But first the person they want is at another healthcare firm.

It’s all about optics! Isn’t that right Candyman! Witty got whiplash from his firing… Candyman is coming soon!

@a9 Remember the 4 Nines program? Every individual, team and product area was expected to maintain 99.99% quality, and anyone that missed 3 months running was CAP'd and termed.

No one did the math on what that goal meant in terms of audit and production volume, "Four Nines! Sounds good!" Claims absolutely hemorrhaged senior production talent 4 like 4 months before they ki-led the program and canned the exec that was the face of it.

@ac Based on the Walmart situation, I wonder if he's the one collecting the contracting kickback in UHG, or if it's someone under him somewhere...

If you really think about it 100x would mean the work you previously did in a year would take you about 3.66 days (if you worked everyday). It’s such an asinine saying. 10x was already super ambitious North Star. 100x is just outright stupid.

I still dont understand what that means. 100 times closer to failure, yes. 100 times closer to being burned out, yes. 100 times more hate for the company, yes.
