Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Anyone with marketable skills already left

Let’s be honest, the only people still left at Intel are coasters and those who can’t get a job anywhere else. Anyone who could get a job elsewhere already did.

Believe it or not, company politics and bs aside, some of us actually like the work and environment. Not everyone / all groups are toxic.

If you are in that environment, perhaps you chose poorly.

@dn - they may have the talent to survive layoffs (political acumen), doesn't mean that they have the talent to make Intel successful (technical acumen).

There’s talent still at Intel, that’s why some people have survived many layoffs. Its not that they cant leave, its that they dont want to leave and probably have been with the company a long time. OP doesnt understand this.

Omg another post about skills. If you went to university and worked a job, you already have skills. A Coursera class here and there won't mean sh-t. This whole rhetoric around skills and growing and blablabla is so moralistic and stale and makes me throw up. Shut up for once, nobody gives a flying fu-k about your skills.

Hey now, many Intel employees (including myself) have marketable skills.
How many others are so well versed in picking through fruit and bananas while balancing a mocha?

“I don't believe OP has marketable skills.”

No one who still works at Intel does including you.

@a2 The only time I ever see other Intel employees out during shift 1 hours are other people that don’t work shift 1. There are literally thousands of shift workers in Oregon.

If I was doing those activities during work hours, my manager and coworkers would notice. That's a management problem. Bring back focal. Fire the bottom periodically.

During business hours coasters can be spotted at

  1. Costco and supermarkets
  2. Schools
  3. Volunteer events
  4. Movie theaters
  5. Kids activities

and they are hoping for a turn around. lol!

This is 100% true.

The coasters are hoping that somebody else or some other group will do great and turn things around and they will have their paycheck coming forever.
