Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

No point in trying too hard at this point

I'm curious what my raise will be this year considering that my group was moved to a director who has been MIA for the last year - minus his 5-7 minute 1x1s with everyone. No clue what we actually do, no idea what each individual does. The only info he gets is from our previous manager - our PM now - and I suppose and hope new manager dictates raises based off of old manager...

Not expecting anything great but hoping for a 4% lmfao. LIkely it'll be a meaningless 3.2 but I guess that'll offset some taxes...

I mean, what's the actual point in being a hard worker if your manager is never around, promotions are MIA and ultimately primarily given to those outside the USA? Or the fact that raises aren't even above inflation rates?

I love my job but cmon, I might as well do the bare minimum if promotions are essentially impossible to get and raises are laughable lol.

If you’re working hard and nothing changes when you stop, that says more about your work than anything else

I will be not promoted as well, only peanut raise which will not cover even the cost of inflation.
It is heavily implied on our team that two colleagues will get promoted, these two men have already more money than the others.
More money that other women in our group which are basically doing the same job if not more.
Manager could give more to others if those men would not get promoted...
I am working as little as possible and actively applying elsewhere.

When you get 20 plus people to manage, the discussions are brief.

There are a lot of people that have been put into Director and senior management roles that don’t want to be managing the people they’re managing have absolutely no interest in learning about how things work and don’t wanna meet with their team members. Your director is not the only one.

@bp

Oh I quit putting effort into my work years ago. Just haven't bothered to resign my position and, despite your simplistic worldview, I have no plans to.

Knock that boot out of your mouth and see if you can find your way into critical thinking. However, I fear it might already be too late for you.

I take my fiber first thing in the morning and then go to a different restroom each day, that alone is a 20-40 min walk + the hour to drop the Browns off at the SuperBowl.

There’s no real meritocracy here. We’ve discussed this many times, this is simply how they operate. Advancement depends heavily on networking. It’s not about what you do; it’s about who you know. You could perform the same role for 20 years without a promotion precisely because you’re good at it , which ironically keeps you in place.

As for your manager, I believe I know him. I’m not sure what’s going on with him, but he seems completely disengaged from the company.

Hey, your Dear Leader claimed in his big speech the other day that he has won the fight against inflation. Be greatful, America is great again!
