Reductions in business segments are happening in Mid sept. And reductions for shared service areas are happening in Mid Oct (decision tools being sent this week)

What's IOI? I've been at this company 5 years, I understand so many dang abbreviations, but this one is popping up everywhere recently and I'm at a disadvantage.
So it’s official. VP of VPs has been booted?
@1rw Simple. what departments/projects have an IOI lower than the new [to be proven or sold] AI projects we're working on/planning. We're going to cut real, positive cashflow to prioritize potential investments with projected higher IOI.
They'll tank the he-l out of 2025 to make 2026 look better that's why steve-o was so clock-sure about profitability and growth in '26 and '27 despite major headwinds, fleeing employers, a government cutting social spending, and PBM reform.
@1qd what’s happening 9/25?
@af till you see how trash the severance doc is and only 40hrs of your PTO
good thing I already had a job lined up just smiled and thanked them
@OP Tell me more about these "decision tools." To determine who is layed off? If so, what are the criteria considered?
@OP 9/25
"Great news. Hope reduction of 20K or more employees can boost the stock price by another 20%. I will buy another $200K worth of UNH on Monday."
I hope you get cancer and are insured by Optum.
@g8 or the 312 SVPs across UHG and Optum
@OP will we get severance?
Hope they finally smarten up and get rid of the tons of directors. There are way too many non workers in those groups and meetings about making up work. They are inextricably and steal ideas from their managers without giving any credit to them.

@dm what dept are you a senior leader ?
We are finance/accounting tech company focusing and accountable to cost center $$ . If you have no cost center owners to fund your team or don’t know where to bill your time, you’re probably on the list somewhere. If your timesheet consist of only one task or a project, you’re probably on the list. If your P&L su-ks not using AI or resistant to ways of Optum… well you get the motif. It is designed from the board and architected by our top leaders. It is the way to rid of ill performing teams and their leaders. Leaders get cut and other leftovers will pick up pieces of your team. We are dog eat dog and this is the way…
Wellmed middle leaders have rude awakening coming. New leader coming in focusing on execution and delivery. After all the Optum bodies that have gone trying to help, maybe they will finally understand what rest of us have been going through. So much waste with non-integration of acquisitions sitting to do what they want. Arguing why they’re so special but can’t think at the scale of Optum. So many breaches in Optum due to incompetent, physician led leaders focus on their own pockets than employees that got you there. Pushing back on Optum is why the hammer will come down by end of Oct. This is the way…
Is there a sign up sheet where we can volunteer in tribute? Asking for a friend….
"trust me bro"
@dn only VPs or other staff????
@dn Department or team impacted??
Wellmed impacted .. confirmed. There are some VP exits!
As a senior leader I know layoffs are coming. Mid September for sure. I was asked for names so I definitely know.
Prayers for everyone! Hope I also get the boot as I am exhausted from this company and can use a recharge as well.
@an you or members of your team will likely be let go. Especially if you on the move from WellMed corporate to Optum at the end of July.
What are shared services? Will Wellmed be affected? I work in claims for Wellmed now Moved to optum. What’s the intel???
@a2 no. There are other reasons but the one you are thinking.
Please be me… please be me. I am tired and exhausted with this company. I need a long healing to find my motivation and purpose again
Stock is up and Warren Buffet bought 15 million shares betting on UHG, now that does not mean changes will not happen. However, perhaps a way forward just focus on what you can control and be value added to your team and members.
Yes and we just moved another a new manager this week yikes
How is this conveyed? It seems bizarre to me you would be told this more than the day before, but maybe this place has more consideration for our own personal financial planning than I thought.
What are shared services areas?
Will wellmed effected?
Just got email from Senior in Shared services of an "important" urgent team meeting tomorrow. So this jibes.
Our UM teams just got moved to the national team, would this be why?
