@OP I don't believe OP Sort of didn't know this.
@c8 dude intel make chips that power the cloud, we need to make better...dont give a hoot who uses them and for what...need product out the door.
@dm well mainly because the US does a bang up job on output, cant even PM tools without people dying
No one expects the Spanish Inquisition!
As the Prophet BTO used to say, 'You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet'
Sell Kiryat Gat fabs to perhaps Tower, though they make mostly analog. Keep IDC intact.
@cs why would F24 sort its wafers in F28 when it has its own sort facility?
About time something is shutdown. Unless there is consolation both for the fabs and support locations, Intel bankruptcy will come fast.
Both F28 and 24 should shutdown immediately, what a waste of money.
Pat was an id--t to keep them
F28 sort was mainly sorting F24 material as all 1274 goes to die sort. Only reason F28 didn't shut last time is because Pat was old school intel and too loyal to certain groups (also wouldn't have looked great for intel to be laying folk off 12 or 18 months ago) This has been on the cards and Lip it just looking at the numbers and unfortunately for the guys in F28 there is no longer room for sentiment if there is a cheaper was to do something thats what they'll do
Without the cloud Intel is done. When there's a stoppage there will be no technical help to get going again.
We'll move forward with Die Sort, buy as much time as possible, and when it's clearly a failure we'll then announce full outsourced. Haven't you seen the roadmap?
@OP consider being a bit more sensitive with this type of communication . It's very upsetting to some
I foresee the entire Giryat Gap site being sold, maybe even all the fabs in IS.
Nothing person, it is just overcapacity.
Whoa didn't see that coming
Oh no....
