huge lay off is coming.
h1b is just a convenient excuse and method. More is coming till HT is satisfied.

HT confirmed that he will reduce VMW to 6.000 employees. So prepare for round 2 and 3 of layoffs. You’re no safe yet, this is far from being done.
""No huge layoff anymore. HT confirmed that in the coffee talk "
Sure. By saying that the headcount will be around 40k, with current being 45."
Because most of those go with EUC!
More and more are leaving around me.
Broadcom is a horrible company to work for.
I'm going to stash some cash and go back to study medicine.
This is soul destroying meaningless work.
More childish name-calling.
VMware WAS inefficient - it wont be once the right sizing is complete. There was far too much dead wood in senior positions that needed to be pruned out, as well as far too many employed in secondary non-revenue positions. I'm already feeling much more positive that this was the right thing to do...
“ There will be no Hugh layoff”
Hugh will be relieved.
VMware will soon be 100% H1Bs!

Right. There will be no Hugh layoff. It's only 5k to go and a lot of H1b people will leave.
I'm sure most of senior engineers and above will be safe.
H1b people, please leave as soon as you can. If you are under staff level, there's no hope for you.
VMW is not inefficient. Octane is destroying the customer base with his crazy, erratic decisions.
None of this was said or even alluded to by Hock, even in the Coffee Talk.
Take your fearmongering elsewhere.

And Octane is so trustworthy and you believe he won’t fire people. Also, just like his promise to invest in innovation…
Agreed. There will be some layoff as there was in VMware

Agreed with the sentiment in principle. But H1 is not a convenient Excuse, it’s a standard to the degree of a law, when you lay off a certain % of employees they don’t do H1b sponsors for a year. That is a clear oversight on individual’s part to ignore, in hindsight all H1b with visas expiring in 2024 and early 2025 should have rejected the offers and walked away.
