Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Upstream CFO

The upstream CFO post was removed about as abruptly as he resigned. How does a post come down so quickly?

This is another loss for the company. He was a smart, nice guy who did want to make the culture better. Him leaving sends signals to us all that Finance is a sinking ship that we need to get off.

@dj I actually don’t understand why IT isn’t completely outsourced. That’s what blows my mind.

He’s a good guy to work with. Always willing to help, would give his feedback in a positive, constructive way, and actually recognized the work people put in. It’s a loss for the company and for Finance, that’s for sure.

With AI, most spreadsheet and data entry finance jobs will be cut by 80%.

DWW, this is THE area for continued structural efficiencies.

Finance 2.0 means no finance. Most of the MBA hires are going everywhere but finance. Finance will cease to exist

He was actually a normal dude and easy to talk to. This is a big loss for the corp and makes you wonder what he knows

Guess he read the Future of Finance / Finance 2.0 deck and realized there is no future for finance

He was a good one too; odd but good. He was a potential Corp CFO or did he see NH going into the role and know his time was going to be 5years plus into the future.
