Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Deal will close!

Folks, we all know in our hearts that deal
Will go thru, so much wishful thinking here.

VMW mgmt and HT interests are aligned, delays happen as no one controls the MoFcom, Broadcom will get it done. And completely fabricated info on Qualcom as there was no agreement to begin with, so no termination... it was blocked by CFIUS as avgo was based in SGP and Broadcom went for hostile takeover approach. This is very diffetent!

Don't let your wishful thinkng get in the way of planning for your future!

Those with job offers, prepare for success at Broadcom.

Those that don't, please don't let this taje your focus away from what matters,
Finding a job!!! Do that first, you can curse Broadcom and cry on Raghu but its behind you, not look forward!

As for fears of layoffs in future, sure that's real thing, but so much ignorance hete that I dont know where to begin.

No, Broadcom didbt manipulate you by giving you higher RSUs and luring you into fancy bonuses, what you are offered is standard Broadcom package and what new hires get at Broadcom, look up sites where this info is shared commonly! That's why Broadcom has industry lowest attrition... they don't promise to pay well, but they actually do!

Now to be fair, if you don't get to stay long, then what good are RSUs, fair argument, but I would use this tine to look for jobs,... if you don't think you will make the cut!

Good or bad, it will be your mgmt and not some crazy person who will decide whether you stay or go, and if anyone is telling you otherwise, they are lying! So if your manager / Dir / VP is good, then it stays that way, but they will have a target number to hit based on how your BU perform financially.

If there is nepotism/ toxic culture in your group, it will stay, only chsnge is that all levels will have to work harder so less time for politics and pressure to get things done with less resources. May force some managers to keep high performers rather than extend nepotism... may be!

So, if you think you will survive the potential cuts with your mgmt, stay put as you willl get way richer at Broadcom.
But if you are emotion driven and focus more pn $500 or $1000 perks / spirit weeks and the likes, better start looking now... if not already! As I said in a previous post, you can count on Broadcom to give you a way above average T-Comp!

No company is your identity, keep this in mind, when you look for whatever you are looking for...

Good luck to all!

Best wishes...

It's so funny how the VMware babies are crying about their base... you guys have no idea. I saw the numbers you are being offered - that's what you get EVERY YEAR at Broadcom. It adds up. Within a few years the base is a joke, change money for pizza. Grow up, do some math and decide for yourselves. If you don't su-k, start looking for your next house and car, you'll be able to afford it faster than you dreamed of!

OP can't even do two seconds of research to see that Intel and Qualcomm both failed their aquisitions for exactly the same reason. BC failed takeover of Qualcomm still needed China approval had Trump not blocked it.

You better hope HT can serve Taiwan up on a silver plater to China. But even if they could, they wouldn't need Qualcomm / Broadcom / Intel ect... they would have direct access to the TSMC factories and workers. Broadcom doesn't make it's chips, barely any of them.

VMware is going no where till you're lord and Savior approves this deal. Enjoy living in denial, you have no power here.

Hock and Dell will be the ones walking to the bank."

Hock and Dell are already filthy rich swines. It's our fu--ing lives they're playing with. Shame on you and shame on them for continuing this ridiculous quest

@dcr+1plD9U7a They’re not playing with your lives. This is the definition of capitalism you either roll with it or leave. There is a key difference here Dell is filthy rich but didn’t make his VMware employees rich with him. Hock tan is filthy rich but made his hardworking and loyal Broadcom employees filthy rich with him. There’s a reason why the revenue per employee at Broadcom is 1.7 million. There’s a reason why they lower the base and offer you sh-t ton of RSU’s. They know how to take care of people who work hard. If you got talent and experience you wouldn’t be worried about your job whether it’s at VMWare or anywhere else. My father was a legacy Broadcom engineer for 20 years. He was there years before Hock showed up and took over his company in 2016. My father passed away in the middle of working for Broadcom! Hock rewarded loyal engineers like my father. NOT fu--ing once was my father ever worried about his job or made excuses like ,”their playing with our lives.” Not once! Broadcom had to increase the offer just to keep my father from leaving in 2018. The misconception some VMware and Broadcom employees have is laughable. As I said before if you got talent and experience you won’t be worried about your job. Broadcom would have gave you an offer by now or you got offers lined up for you already. You simply wouldn’t be stressing.

I don’t personally count my employer as someone who cares about my best interests. VMWs “EPIC2” nonsense is just look aid I never bothered to drink. I don’t expect to have too much trouble finding another job if the transaction closes and I decide to stay—skilled people are always in demand.

The thing that makes me concerned is the BC is pretty clearly making promises (or implied promises) that they never intend to keep. Cutting base so severance is lower is a sh1tty move. And if that’s the way BC works, how could I ever trust anything management said?

Again, I’m not looking for a “friend” or some sort of “community” at work. But I expect some level of honesty—not complete transparency but at least not straight-up lies.

Op here, I honestiy thought I was trying to help, but emotions are running high and my post came out as a tout for Broadcon - I appologize!

Still not giving false hope, if you know what I know... ask current working folks at Broadcom as you can trust a talking human being better than a keyboard warriorr!

Iin any case, Good luck!

Give it up. Stop peddling hope to people who see nothing but AVGO's failed attempts.

BC is fraudulent company. Inflating target bonus numbers and RSUs to lure employees from the acquisition (not new employees) is FRAUD. It is scam.

BC should NEVER cut base. Never. This was a big mistake. Only people who are FORCED to accept will accept to be defrauded by BC. Meaning, H1B visa workers and leadership because leadership will play toxic to get their bonuses while stealing from ICs.
