It’s an attrition tactic. Many won’t be able to comply. There’s not enough space for everyone returning. It will be a logistical nightmare for some, and for others, the time lost commuting and the additional expenses might be the final straw. Other examples have shown that productivity and collaboration have not improved with RTO. Quite the opposite. The goal is simply to inconvenience as many people as possible so they leave on their own. That’s all RTO has been about.

Who wants to spend 8-10 hrs / day, 4-5 days a week in a cubicle (nicer name for a “cell”) after experiencing the convenience and comforts of working from home?
Why should they want people to “RTO” when they’ve outsourced so many jobs to foreigners?
These people make no sense.
Rto? Lol
That game is over
Never happening
Most meetings are low substance, intended to rally the masses. This was one of the fluffiest in a while. Zero to inspire confidence in leadership's ability to address real headwinds faced by not only Optum and UHG broadly but our entire industry.
Consumer rah rah is fine, but it's not like we're lowering premiums, reducing out of pocket expenses, nor covering more codes or including more providers. It doesn't change that employers are stingy or that Congress is taking away safety net healthcare. It doesn't change the utilization challenge or that retrospective reviews and upcoding are under pressure. No clear path to grow revenue/profit at the rate we did for years. Nothing about how competitors are eating our lunch because they're far more organized and innovative - somehow scale alone will save us.
How did size work for GE, AOL, Daimler Benz, ATT, Enron? How about being an brand leader like Kodak, Xerox, or Sears?
Key threats to the business internally and our ability to sell to clients are ignored.
Annnd the meeting was a big nothing burger as expected
Good thing they got rid of a bunch of leases
@dc If they are seperate, how can Optum Return to UHG office?
@as because they are likely about to separate
@a6 How do the boots taste?
It’s a way to get u to quit.
@a6 The people making the decisions are two digit IQ simpletons who are blissfully unaware of what the people directly underneath them are doing, because all they do is scroll Tiktok during their constant meetings.
why would RTO be specifically for Optum and not United Health Group as a whole?
Closest office is 10 hours away for me. That would be problematic
As it should be. Back where the action is and decisions are made
Not enough space? You're really out of touch with reality.
An office would be nice.
