New building has so many wide open spaces, but no practical place to do work. Why can't every desk have an ergonomic chair and monitors? Pretty sure the couches, benches and cushy chairs outnumber the actual workstations.

Whenever I need to get work done I go to a quiet lab and set up camp for a few hours. I freaking hate the open office setup that was jammed down our throats.
"Why can't every desk have an ergonomic chair and monitors?"
That wouldn't fit the "look how cool, hip, and tech-esque we are" facade if they had actual functional workspaces.
@hj They never remove the shaft. The di--o of consequences does not come lubed.
@hb, did they try to remove the shaft prior to sitting? That might help
Already heard they have issues with the "hard spaces." Loved hearing the Ford Land double speak.
Couches and benches are intended for execs to live out the workplace affair fantasies
Yes, it's already impacting productivity by taking away parking spaces from all the other engineers that actually need to get work done to make our cars saleable.
Look at all the pictures of the new facilities, its just people walking around with coffee smiling at each other. I think they have a '70's outlook on things, conversation pits like a "think tank" for collaborating and brainstorming. But at some point the actual work needs to be done. I dont believe they thought about that. Most of them dont live in the real world of actual work. Yes, most of the time, we are sitting here ba----g away at our keyboards and designing things, which takes a lot of time at a computer. If there are no real work station desks, or the open spaces (wasted space) out number working areas, it seems typical to me for the new generation of a business model.
@d9 why do you think work is picking away at a keyboard for everyone? If your job is simply computer input, you might not be needed. Try solving a real problem, not analyzing code all day…
@OP that is what the id--ts in charge of Ford Land think "work" is. They have never had more than 2 windows open on their computer in their entire life. These are the same id--ts that think you can "work" from the driver seat of a Navigator.
You are not doing the type of work that they want you to do. You are supposed to do the type of work that can be done on couch, open space, on benches.
You thought "everyone" was remaining 100% wfh? You aren't very bright, are you?
Why is this an issue, I thought everyone here was not going into the office in protect anyway,
