Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Confirmed- Layoffs coming 1st and 4th

I know first hand that folks in the ISG Sales and Pre-sales group in the US are getting laid off Friday and into Monday at the very least. This confirmed first hand via discussions from people in the south US regions (don't want to get too specific).

This is a bit less confirmed, but one source is a person who is being laid off- was told by their management ahead of time and that it's going to 20% RIF. They are not sure if this is overall or just in the sales group.

Sorry folks and best wishes to those affected.

Global stuff... they also cut pre-sales and sales in the Middle East and APJ. The problem is that they are letting a lot of knowledge go (which isn't AI replaceable) in the process, which will ultimately cause them business damage for years. These people will probably land somewhere else in the industry with everything they've learned for 10s of years in DELL (some from the EMC2 age).

Can we not turn the only thread on here with any substantive information on the pending layoffs into a political p!ssing match? I don't care if you hate Trump or love him so much you'd let him cr-p in your mouth, go find a reddit forum to argue over him.

@dh I mean, get into the AI space then? Future proof yourself. Go learn AI, take some courses or certifications. I don't like how AI is taking over either but, it is and will at some point.

Because I'm not lazy and stupid, I'm getting AI certifications and training so that I'm NOT left behind because, that's what's going to happen. People who are unwilling to accept the FACT that AI is the future and refuse to conform absolutely will be left jobless and unemployable.

Sh-t changes and if you can't change with it then... idk what to tell ya

Kind of curious about this... I'm in tech support but at a previous job they laid off someone in cyber and he had/controlled our VPN's and firewalls. He had a feeling he was being let go according to one of his coworkers and, basically destroyed the firewalls/VPN configs, changed passwords, wiped out any backups and all sorts of other things. Essentially, this dude bricked the firewalls.

The other cyber dude was locked out as the firewalls were essentially inaccessible - even via console port.

Long story short, the dude brought our company to a standstill for like 2-3 months. They had to order all new firewalls, and hired a 3rd party company to quickly configure these things to get us back up and running.

idk how Dell works but, it seems like if someone who is in control of devices like that is suspecting - or even knows - they are being let go, idk... seems like a risky fire to me? Sure, they can disable their account/access but i feel like they'd put a "backdoor" entry in beforehand?

So as per usual, Sales and ISG are getting hit hard... again. Same ol' same ol' year after year. Not complaing here as I'm not in either of those orgs but, why don't they just get rid of them all together at this point lol? I mean, it's ALWAYS those groups who get hellfire.

@ck VxBlock support has already been fully outsourced to Capgemini... These block engineers moved over to Powerflex support. Word is that product is absolutely horrendous, so not many willstick around

@d9 can’t exactly say there’s alot to do these days unless you’re in the AI space.

The fact that you have to ask this shows you don’t even understand the independence that was normal prior to Trump

@c8 I’m starting to see a trend where DellTeam employees are appearing under the managers that were not pushed out to IC roles. If the headcount is not 20 yet, I suspect outsourced people will fill those gaps and possibly replace us regardless if your team is affected by outsourcing. I work in Field so my days are definitely counted. Those dellteam guys are partner FSEs it seems.

Coming to a layoff website and complaining about people posting about layoffs is comical. I get the frustration with the never ending posts saying "1% confirmed" nonsense, but this one actually has more specific information about an organization that is going to be impacted, backed up with the comment from @c3 . This is why we are here, to find out info about actual layoffs and what groups/roles are being impacted. Why are you even coming to this site if that frustrates you?

@c3 What does it mean if a sales director has 12 headcount right now? Entire team getting wiped out?

manager in isg here i can confirm that layoffs are happing next week but its sales. isg teams dont have a go date for the cuts. we where asked about 3 weeks ago for 3 to 4 people on each team. if you look at the head count after the recent shuffle over the weekend you will see that alot of manager have 23 or 24 people on thier teams... the goal is 20 per manager so you can see that they are prepped for the cuts

@OP Interesting. I also heard 20% last week (Fed Sales) and brushed it off as an insane rumor that is not feasible.
