@dg realest and most true comment of the year. I'm a white male and I agree. Why is it some Indian's fault that Americans don't want to go to grad school?

In 2016, when Global Foundry did layoffs, Intel fab sent people to Boston to interview and hired many Global Foundry people (laid off). This is a bad move, as I know a few from Global Foundry are really really bad, a normal engineer there became general manager in Intel. These GF people messed up Intel fab, they are too good in talking and cheating.

@db You are just a disgruntled person who wants to blame others for your failures. All of Intel CEOs except LBT has been white male. Renee James and MJ who came very close to that highest position are white females. They set the strategy for Intel.

Who missed making chips for Apple? PSO.

Who stopped investing in fabs ? BK.

What was Bob Swan's accomplishment? He had no vision, made the books look good by paying great employees pennies and they were easily poached by competitors

What is Pat do ? Drown the company in debt and land it in an existential crisis.

One Intel was not the slogan for Global diversity. It meant you don't compete with other teams within Intel, instead you cooperate. However, you have worn the race tinted glasses. So you will derive some race based meaning from it.

Also, there is absolutely no reason for replacing blue badge American workers with blue badge h1b workers other than failing to find talent for a company like Intel. It doesn't save costs and Asian males are excluded from diversity initiatives.

If you want Americans, especially young Americans hired, then the starting point would be to send them to engineering colleges. When I was in grad school, the professor who taught Operating Systems class brought his very young kid to the class one day. Next class the prof said that his child asked if one needs to have black hair to go to his class. There were 5 white Americans in a class of around hundred. You see...that is the root cause.

Don't be disgruntled. Read some history. American doesn't have the monopoly over greatness. All the other cultures you are dissing here were once great too and white people flocked to those countries. Those countries came out of colonial oppression after WW2 and have big aspirations for themselves and work much harder to make something of their lives. America will continue to lose its dominance as more and more countries regain confidence that was wiped out due to colonialism/white oppression.

@d1 Of course racism exists. As long as there are people, there will be some racists. And implementing institutional racism against white people doesn't correct institutional racism against other groups. Showing hiring preferences to or against any group based on their skin color, s-x, age, religion, etc. is wrong no matter which direction it goes in.

@cg One might say that Intel was in nearly monopoly position in both client and datacenter, right until ~2015 when the company started to fire white veterans who buit it's success and diversity hiring to replace them

@bb I am not a fan of DEI, I am not black and not even US citizen. But Juneteenth is a historical day next only to July 4th in significance and should be remembered. It is a day which upheld the core values of this country which is freedom and liberty (not sure how much of it is still true...which is another discussion).

I whole heartedly agree that racism is alive and well in this country. Still not a fan of DEI. The goal should be to level the playing field, not to handover free trophies.

@bc Sure Jan… Intel is approx 70% straight men. You all had plenty headcount and years to creative these great products but didn’t. Don’t blame others for your failures to invent

@bb This. Intel has, as a company, been obsessed with DEI. Christy was a symptom of that. The company has continued to pander to every group that isn't straight, white men. A little more time focused on making good products would've done wonders.
