@216 They have all the sentimentality of a mafia hitman.
If you ever get an email from someone you don’t know with the subject line “business updates“ or “let’s chat“, you know it’s the hangman calling.
In the past, they would usually do their layoffs the week before Thanksgiving.
@as non quota carrying roles should be concerned.
@1zf I know it's happening. Im impacted and lay off call is tomorrow Dec 2nd. Also told people getting calls tomorrow and they have no idea what's coming. Laying people off right before Christmas. What an awesome company.
Not a good idea to spread rumors unless you are absolutely certain that it is going to happen. I have seen many times predictions of imminent layoffs that never took place.
@15r I meant bull market.
@14h I hope there isn’t BUT the stock price is down over 30% in the past 6 months in a bear market. Yeah, like everyone else I heard the explanations, but at some point there is going to be some pressure if there isn’t already.
I am skeptical as to whether there will be any major layoffs at TR this year. I was laid off 12 years ago. a calendar invite from my manager added within 24 hours of our meeting. When i joined call the first thing out of manager’s mouth was , “we are being joined today by a rep from HR…”. I guess we shall see on 12/2
@dx Ok so this also means nobody gets a notice. Like, thanks but don't come into the office any more, your card is now disabled. It makes sense, indeed
@d8 They worry that someone might either take sensitive, proprietary information, break things, or cause other types of chaos. As much as I hate layoff culture, it's a very reasonable precaution to take.
@a7 Maybe they're trying out the false sense of security schtick only to pull the rug out after everyone feels "safe."
@b1 and what would one "do" if they knew in advance?
@ay I know nothing about nothing - but they send the invite within a couple of hours of the meeting (same day). They work hard not to give anybody the chance to do anything.
So only those getting the calendar invite will be let go? When are these “invites” being sent? On the day or few days prior?
Is this across or any specific org?
@am true, places are too chicken to do these in person anymore. Funny how we can be let go remotely but not trusted to do our jobs remotely.
They always get the upper hand
@OP one telling sign will be if they don’t want anyone coming into the office on a specific day if a call is scheduled.
@a7 this place is sinking it’s fragmented and not together the leadership and middle management all in trouble
And miss the opportunity to ruin someone's Thanksgiving? This doesn't sound like the TR I know
