Any word on what departments are impacted?

This is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard! This is not a company for the people at all. People that su-k at their job are still there while amazing hardworking people are gone! This is the beginning of the end. They don’t care about buying and they never did! Someone get promoted and they haven’t even been there a year and just so happened managed to get promoted and moved RIGHT BEFORE THE LAYOFFS. Nepotism is real!
@e7 sast, supplier sourcing, merchandising, qa, bbps, and some abs
@dv which jobs were announced?
Layoffs. It’s an ALDI thing
Ai uses so much fresh water and electricity to run itself, how does this align with aldis green initiatives at all??
https://www.genpact.com/ Heres the AI that is about to replace all the jobs they just announced that are being laid off.
The future is incredibly bleak.
@d8 the whole buying department, meeting is at 9:30
Is this for BAT? What time is the meeting at?
Wage freezes, hiring freezes, constantly looking over our shoulders. They must think this is what motivates people to work harder?
Was this CI in uk office? We had email few month's same thing
CI department over here and all CI employees were told NOT to come into the office tomorrow and to work remotely. Clearly that is because they don’t want to deal with the fall out from laying off tons of people!
I can’t believe this is happening again so soon. I thought most of us would have until the end of ‘26 at the least. Praying that we all land on our feet. How terrible that we work for “a great place to work” and have to worry about being laid off every other week. It’s crazy how they promote in our faces about how revenue is increasing and how the company is expanding, and yet, here we are on the verge of what we all know is coming. If it’s not this time for you, it will surely be the next round. Jump ship before we are all looking for a job at the same time in the same area
For everyone in Buying who isn’t let go tomorrow, when will it be our time? At this point it feels like they’re just slowly laying off the entire department. When does it end? Will we just live in fear as long as we work here?
@av The last round, the people were notified before. At the follow up meeting they named every single person they let go. It was wild.
Do we think they would wait until right before the meeting to schedule meetings with those impacted? Or do we think they’re already scheduled?
@an correct, if you have a quick private meeting scheduled before with just your direct leader is what would be indicative of being impacted
@ah When this happened 4 months ago we had a brief follow up meeting, and our team was not impacted.
Ah sh-t here we go again
You’ll probably get a brief private appointment on your calendar for tomorrow morning if you’re impacted based on how they previously handled it.
Discount grocer, discount leadership
@ac could be specific commodities? There’s a rumor GS is taking over non food.
@a2 Buying managers? Aldi just promoted quite a few DM’s to those positions, so I wouldn’t think it would be them.
We’ll see what horrors await us tomorrow, but my guess is they’re consolidating buying desks under GSIB and getting rid of some of the ABs.
Is this gonna be a quarterly thing now or what? Are they trying to trim down the workforce so they can fit all corporate employees in Batavia/Aurora campuses?
CI and Buying got the same exact email, unsure of any other departments
Maybe ABs and managers
