Thread regarding Optum layoffs

My motivation is officially gone

I'm in pure "collect the paycheck" mode now. Minimal effort, zero overtime. The last year and a half have been a masterclass in how dedication is rewarded here. It isn't. My only remaining goal is to get a decent severance and never look back.

Never forget that a "good severance" comes with years of service. Straight forward. Is not a made up amount.

@d6 listening to this town hall makes me sick! Why don’t you have the father of the son that died because he couldn’t afford his inhaler cause they jacked the price up

@OP I have been with this place for over 20 years. I have never felt so unappreciated in my entire life.

This place cares NOTHING about their employees! “Helping People Live Healthier Lives” is a joke! How can you claim that and then NOT cover any of your personal medical expenses? For crying out loud, there is an obesity epidemic in this country. However this company refuses to cover any medications (GLP-1) at a reasonable cost to assist people improve. They simply deny any request by your medical professional to get you on a good plan to live that healthier life. Type 2 diabetes, CPAP user, high blood pressure still does not qualify you as a candidate for this treatment that is helping millions across the country. Psst, other companies are allowing this for their employees.

Just lay me off and get my misery over with!!

Only been here a year and a half and I agree with the other person. You just can’t plan anything, purchase anything because you just feel like you don’t know if you’re gonna have a paycheck to pay for it. It’s like living in an endless limbo! Su-ks! I’m one of the ones that made it so far, but to be honest with you, I am not motivated and have perpetual vertigo from all the stress.

I can’t quit but this company has su-ked the soul from me. I’ve second guessed myself and sold my soul to survive in this toxic company. i am so wounded that i feel I will be ineffective to other companies. I will live for the rest of my life without the glory nor gain that others are lucky to hit at the pinnacles of their career. Very few leaders in this company and those good ones are just surviving for their own reasons. You will not learn anything new. The utter bureaucracy and tribal mentality will wear thin. I don’t even ask my admins to open helpdesk tickets. IT offshore just closes them. You will not learn anything new here and if you do, anything last 20 years is innovation around here. Working here in the past meant something. Now with multiple breaches, narcissistic execs, tribal competitiveness and paying multiple ransomware, we’re driving healthcare to the ground. Just like company su-ks from the honeypot of government handout, I too shall collect from this profiteering company. However ask and I will gladly raise my hind. Small ask for 15 years of blood sweat and tears I gave to this company

After I read this, I spent some time tonight imagining what the perfect time to be let go would be. Now is as good as any. Then I would get the 26 generous weeks at max unemployment for my state, no where near the same as my wage but if I you was frugal, I could make it work.. Sometimes a person just has to visualize their ultimate dream, time off to just focus on your own stuff without having to think about this drama....Don't come at me and ask me to quit. Optum is just a place I am parked at for now, but I am not stupid. The wage is garbage, the team I am on is just the perfect level of lower base performance, the boss is low key chill. But I would not mind getting free money for doing nothing by volunteering to be offloaded. Based off the expected raise and bonus, out of self respect I will have to finally find a new job and quit anyways. At some point even a good thing isn't a replacement for actual real money and it has been a few cycles around the sun of deminishing returns...

@OP I've been this way the 8yrs..been here 9..The lack of transparency & inability to plan is just too much! I've been on uhc & optum(when they transferred my whole dpt 2 NaviHealth) back to uhc. It has been at a steady decline. Performance is as valuable as 1-ply tissue paper after a BM!
