Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Employee turnover

Are sales account technical lead positions having some turnover? Would positions be open from time to time be more due to growth or perhaps due to PIPs for not meeting sales goals? I guess this is the probably same across all technology companies in today’s economic environment so not picking on any one company or position here.

An ATL should be a seasoned architect, ideally has a minimum of 5 years solutions architecture or enterprise architecture experience as a customer or in consulting service. Hard to have any credibility with customers if you have limited experience. While tech sales experience is useful, ideally real world project experience where you did more than sales support is important

IBM is a clown show. People hired, promoted by skin color and s-x and race. If white male do not apply and go right to Pass Go. Growth? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! I have seen people with 2 yrs at IBM and 3 at the Ulta Beauty counter become ATLs and go to customer mtgs and literally read Powerpoint speaker notes.

@dh and lest you remember incorrectly, Jack Welch was a total disaster of a CEO and a human being. That came out after he left GE and passed away. He engaged in accounting and earnings manipulation at GE.

His focus on mass layoffs, stock manipulation, and financialization prioritized short-term shareholder value over long-term stability and employee welfare. IBM leadership under Arvind and Kavanaugh is no better.

1 New graduates with AI skills
2) a team of great Leaders like Arvind Krishna, Jim Kavanaugh and Joanne Wright .

IBM "WAS", either you like it or not, IBM is NO LONGER relevant.
IBM does NOT have any more technological edge.

If execs at IBM want to hire at lower band levels or demote people, then abandon the whole band level structure at IBM. It is way outdated and probably 100+ years old. Have smaller incremental progressions in an employees promotion path so promotions are more frequent based on performance. The band levels salary range have overlapped for some time now.

ATL positions have some turnover as I think they're lowering the bands for these down to 9 and 8 from 10/9, and also looking for people near the customer to reduce travel costs. Some of the sales management is a bit weak, although there are some really good leaders too.

@d3 How am I a troll ? I am an IBM Employee with a dream of being an Executive some day so I'm learning as much as i can. IBM offers excellent upskilling opportuntities too That's why Jim Kavanaugh wants everyone to keep upskilling. As Jack Welch said: "Before you are a leader, success is all about growing yourself. When you become a leader, success is all about growing others.

Interesting how one’s perspective of working at IBM is depending on where you are in your career. Would be the same at many other companies too. A college education is no substitute for experience

I keep seeing IBM Hiring recent college grads on Linkedin.
IBM Is hiring and I am glad they were able to find employment.

Last year when I graduated, I was hired by IBM 2 months later. I grateful to be in T&O and learning as much as I can. These badges and all the Think40 Hours I have is expanding my knowledge.

@ca and when you do come up with some and get a little success with it - it won’t matter because they have a preferred employee who has done little and whose work has not manifested into anything substantial and is out right dropped to promote over you

There's going to be a good amount of turnover in Sales for both sellers and CSEs as none of the ones I've spoken with are particularly happy with the way their executive team totally destroyed the organization. So you can always apply for one of those positions...but i wouldn't.
