Of course there will be layoffs. We're not making enough resume to balance out JF and her ex. team's raises and bonuses. It's a pattern. It's just a matter of how many and when. May be just a few here and there or a couple hundred+. No one really knows.

Remember last year when people who were not micromanagers started demanding extra unnecessary meetings, status reports, more PPTs, etc? It's a way to see what everyone is doing or not doing and where to trim the fat.

Additionally, the promotions of more MD's and Directors hasn't been balanced out and you cannot tell me people just too those jobs for titles w/out extra $$$. Basic math, you can't keep spending and traveling the globe if you are trying to save $$$.

Just my opinion and observations. I see an uptick in micromanaging in tech. Let's see how things pan out.

@ba+1jm0kjc15 & @d3+1jm0kjc15 They are pushing hard for in person for TX and watch parties at other sites. I'd rather them not see my facial expressions of displeasure. I'm done and over with going out of my way to be in person at stuff anymore if I do not have to do so. Give us the raises and bonuses we deserve then maybe I'll play nicer.

I watched Mike W. say all this stuff and then a few months later he had resigned. Lol. I don't see TR sticking around forever at Citi either. That position is a revolving door.

Any message of “folks if you’re in this meeting, congratulations, you made it. Its all over with.” would be a lie. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard this, then later after some more people are let go you hear “well, there will be selective layoffs here and there with small numbers but Citi has always done this every year”.

Here’s some simple math.
Laying off 2000 all at once = 2000 peeps gone.
Laying off 6 (actually 6.6 but rounding down) per day for 300 days = is still 2000 peeps gone.

All at once or small numbers at a time….its not over with by any means. Brace for the long haul. Save your money, update your resume, skill up, network outside of Citi. Be prepared. Don’t fall for the “everything A OK” speech.

Keep in mind that the folks delivering the “everything is A OK” message, are those who make millions more per year than the people being let go. THEY, not you, are well financially cushioned and being let go or being managed out (whatever phrasing makes it more palatable to you) means nothing to them. Attend the TH for a good showing of course but be leery of any words spoken. The TH meeting is usually designed to sell you something. Buyer beware.
