Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

It does not matter unless you are in sales

Go above and beyond your role to help others across business or silos, volunteer as a leader in an affinity group, receive accolades for innovation….. none matters when your boss says “i had to mark you down nothing i can do about it.”

If you don’t do those extras you are guaranteed lower marks, well…..at least you won’t be disappointed with inflated expectations.

Breeding ground for cynicism.

Don’t be the worst person on the team but if you won’t be rewarded for it, why work hard to be the best. Do just enough to keep from getting fired.

@bj+1jh6a3jc7 From TECH and in JAX, no matter what we did doesn’t matter most of us got 3/3 from him. How much detailed info he knows what we worked we have no clue? He always talk with his above and same level peers over zoom most of the time. But he don’t spent with his direct reports like it was needed. One on ones hardly goes anywhere 5 minutes. He doesn’t bother to ask how we are working etc.

As one of the ones that has always gotten 1's and 2's exclusively here's my take: it takes doing multiple people's jobs and 10+hrs a week of OT that obviously is not paid out to a salaried employee. What do I get for doing this besides the 1 or 2? Maybe an extra 1% merit and another $2-3k on my bonus. Why do I do it? I'm an id--t, but mostly I've just gotten used to it. If that sounds like a reasonable trade off for you there's your roadmap...

reposting this as it applies here.

As a 2, if not adequately rewarded by Citi, then I will reward myself with another job somewhere else. Current irons in the fire over the past two months in OTHER sectors, this is key, is paying off.

It amazes me how peeps at Citi refuse to look for other jobs outside of banking. They look at the peer banks only and go no further. I truly don’t understand it as they are just letting other prime positions just float on by.

Hey I can do that and the salary is good….oh wait…its not in banking…nevermind, it has to be in banking or nothing at all. WTH?!?!

There is a D, checks up on the mandatory trainings before it’s due and mandatory attendance at office Every week, doesn’t bother to know what are his directs are doing and doesn’t bother to get the employees work to do. Is it same everywhere?

What do the 5% that get 1 and 10% of 2s do ?

I do so much outside my responsibilities as a leader and innovator, seems none of it is valued nor appreciated.

Yep, boss told me in no uncertain terms they had to give 85% of the team 3s this year. All about paying smaller bonuses and smaller salary increases....nothing more. Dont take it personally
