Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Ok now this is funny.

There’s articles out there now that mentions future layoffs at Citi if you can imagine that but the twist on it is that it mentions focusing on MD and directors as the target.

The funny part is that before these articles this board was littered with, in my opinion, manager and HR replies heckling other people’s posts or cheerleading Citi as an awesome place that its not so bad on and on.

Now since those articles, you don’t hear all of that rhetoric. I guess since they are now on the chopping block, its a different story. Its all quiet now from those people. I mean, what’s changed? Where did all of the Citi cheerleaders go?

@ff they do…reputational risk may no longer scrutinized by the regulators, but it is still recognized and mitigated internally

@d2 the layoffs have not been all bad. There were several grifters who survived on a cycle of building and recreating poorly built processes. Some of them have been laid off to hopefully make room for people who care about quality and suitability.

@d2

the numbers are not surprising. exec management has been talking about tens of thousands of layoffs since early last year, and what's already been cut is not close to target yet. but i agree that doing all of this in dribs and drabs is extremely demotivating because people never know how much more there is to come, and remain nervous forever. maybe that's the plan, and if it is shame on C.

more coming next month, then more in april, then probably more in june or july. and also more in 2027. that's what I am hearing.

@d2 It's quiet because layoff and org changes are happening. No one is doing a lot of work cuz it will be a waste of time if you get laid off or shuffled.

The ongoing delusion that executive mgmt and/or HR monitor this board or give a cr-p in any way what anyone posts on here is perhaps one of it's most amusing, if predictable, aspects.

It's eerie how quiet things are; usually, the start of the year is busy. I'm just waiting for that random Zoom meeting to pop up, but honestly, I'm past caring. The vibe here has totally tanked. We've lost so many great people in the last couple of years, and this whole offshoring thing? I’m sure they'll get what they pay for. When my turn comes, I'm not even looking back. It's sad, but they clearly don't value performance anymore. Everyone upstairs in Bora Bora land is just trying to save their own skin, lowballing top performers to dodge bonuses and set up for RIFs. I was exceeding expectations for years then suddenly it's all 'valued contributor’ across the board, despite the extra effort and great feedback. So, what's the point? You're just a number, and the corporate games are unreal. I'm in survival mode now, doing just enough to get by. No more going the extra mile. They're coming for layoffs, and they'll find some bogus reason to put you on the list. It's a bummer, but it feels like the whole system is broken. And let's be real, it's not just here; it's virtually everywhere.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has noticed, there's used to be comments saying those who are getting laid off deserve it but not anymore lol now there's no more positivity and I think Citi is really sc--wing themselves. In my area the only employees who aren't trying to leave are the one old ones who will be retired in 5-10 years and every time something changes it takes them months to learn the new procedure good luck Citi

it’s quiet. Layoff is concerning regardless of cheerleading by “those people”. It’s not fun when it’s your turn.
