Thread regarding Ford layoffs

LL5, LL6, Supervisors?

Still can't believe how useless 60% of the LL5, LL6, Supervisors are at Ford.

@15j You can always try wearing your pants on backwards and your shoes on the wrong foot. It works for most at WHQ! Right Bill?

@15g Try caring less, that seems to be the road to LL5, LL4's have mastered not caring and a-s kissing. LL3+ mastery behavior is not appropriate to discuss in polite company.

I’m an LL6 and useless but, can you blame me? GSR stalls out and gets sub inflationary raises. I needed more money for blackjack and etc. By golly if I can swing it I will try to become a useless LL5.

20+ yrs at company. had what I considered 3 solid/good supervisors (LL6), a couple of "ok" supervisors, but majority were very unworthy of role. The "good" and "ok" were during very early and late years of employment. One LL4 and LL3 stood out as being top notch and deserving of being promoted further

@hw+1k9gahwf5 this is a good point. when ford 2000 happened and they basically threw all the chess pieces into the air, the weasels realized they could make power plays. then of course weasels hire weasels. so you get a weasel explosion. steve jobs used to call it a bozo explosion, but we play different in dearborn. :)

@kn

You must like being abused. Not sure why you'd consider this.

  • 1 this comment… been trying to become a LL6 for years after seeing the rest of the bunch. But no luck so far
    Technical knowledge and skill aren’t what they’re looking for at LL that’s only for GSRs

Retired in 2022. When I first hired in the LL6s were seasoned. Even the ones with horrible personalities. But that seasoning and experience really started to decline after Ford 2000. The standards were lowered rather than bringing that individual up to that standard. Now more friends of family or a quota system. I am not a racist or s-xist. my best supv was a black female. she very experienced in the area our section worked in. She applied for a LL5 job but never interviewed . instead the job went to a family friend. In my experience I have seen good men and women more than qualified for promotion only to leave. Instead you have political animals who do not understand basic engineering fundamentals. Sad decline to watch. Hard to work at a place that lacks confidence and understands engineering fundamentals. Culture turned toxic starting with nassar and really ramping up over the past 6 years. Senior management is totally out of touch. lack of a realistic vision and plan.

I know a few supervisors that regret taking their position. A lot of responsibility with no authority.

@d1

People down voting this are simply out of touch. So much this. The number 1 thing your LL6 can do that will exponentially enrich your career and promote your sanity, is keep the upper management away from you. Let you do what you do. Upper management is useless to you unless you need something directly from them. They thinking you the same way dont worry. Of course if you're a brown noser you'll resent being kept away from 5+....but if you're serious about doing work, you'll appreciate the lack of face time you have to commit to people that don't know your duties.

At Ford, it's who you know to get the job. It's not what you know or if you fully qualified for the job. This is why you have all of these fraternity brothers getting promoted. If you are not part of the brothers then you are not going to get the job. 😂

WHY would your ll6 want to have lunch with you or buy you a gift. Your gift is the LL6 deflecting the stupidity so gsr can do their JOB. Lunch was cancelled due a meeting with LL5, team meeting cancelled due to some other crisis next time they should send you in their place. If that's not enough when they stop running interference I will buy popcorn and watch the s$% show.

The ridiculous part is, they keep replacing these LLs and supervisors with the same useless people over and over again.

I had a couple of good supervisors in the past and they were promoted very quickly. Another 95% was garbage - they did not bother with team meetings, Christmas gifts and restaurants. There was no use from them because they were full servants of LL4 idi- ots. The worst creates at Ford.

You know what we do 90 percent of the time? Whatever the LL4+ tell us to do. If they weren’t up our as--s, they’d be up yours. Be thankful.

I find it hilarious that anyone on here thinks these individuals have any decision making powers...and then actually believe their superiors do...be serious...they do exactly what they are instructed to do like 99% of employees

Do they like to hang out and get beers after a tough day at the plant? Shoot some pool, throw some darts. Order nachos and pizza, shoot the sh-t.

I agree, only executive leadership roles (LL3 and above) are who can really make this company succeed. Unfortunately there aren't enough of them to lead and manage all the lower ranks down to GSR levels.
