Post the state of play at your office | RTO March 3rd

How long did it take you to find a working desk?
Were you assigned a seat or a neighbourhood?
Were you assigned a "desk-share buddy"
Were you told to go home again?
Did you have many 30 second chats?
Did you just spend all day on teams calls?

Post all the details. Add your location if comfortable. Lets compile the farce that is RTO

I just want a keyboard locker and a clean desk. Is that too much to ask for? I know a desk to call my own would be a landslide. But some general cleanliness would be much obliged. All the clorox wipes were gone and my desk was disgusting. Nobody wants this.

From what I have gathered chatting with folks on the AMER teams it seems to vary a lot based on your team's management. My team had clearly marked assigned seats. The only problem was that the previous occupants weren't told. Friends of mine on another team arrived total total sh-t show, some of their desks didn't even have peripherals. Aside from that I got basically zero work done between chatting with all the folks in the office.

My desk-share buddy smells like a hot fa-t. The kind that burns your sphincter on its quest for freedom.

I wasted 20 minutes trying to find somewhere to sit. No desks open at all for my team if you didn't get here at 7am

More offices than expected were told do not come in as we don't have space. Starting to belive the conspiracy theorists that this was mainly about RR.....

Pretty anti-climatic... only slightly more folks than usual this morning and not the standing room only, cube land rush that was expected

"director has demanded 100% desk utilisation"
So the goal is simply to make the office look full. It doesn't matter who fills the seats at all - what work they actually do either. Crazy.

Also Ireland:

I have been remote prior to covid when EMC asked for people to go fully remote due to lack of desk space. I have been told not to come in as Ovens office doesnt have capacity for everyone. A few friends have said that their director has demanded 100% desk utilisation of their neighbourhood and that they have been paired up with another person to share their desk with. They have to work out amongst themselves who comes in when. That is mental if you are paired up with someone who cant be flexible and i gues you wont be "collaborating" with that team member for those valuble 30 second chats either... Well played MD [slow clap]
