CVX always has the lowest offers but Hess could have gotten a better offer
@d0 OXY overpaid for Anadarko, and are still in financial distress because of it. Chevron isn’t interested in overpaying for anything. They may end up buying OXY after this acquisition is completed. OXY’s future is directly tied to Buffet and he is set to retire. No more easy money for the OXY CEO.
What I mean is that Oxy paid big money for Anadarko, why they didn’t try to get a higher bid for Hess? It’s worth way more than Anadarko did

Well Anadarko no longer exists. That could be a good reason.
Hess has been one of the best performing stocks in O&G in the latest years, why did they sell the company so cheap? Why didn’t offer it to other people like Anadarko?
