Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

So, what’s with the rumors that the hatchet will be swinging in the US too?

Wouldn’t be surprising, but it sure would be good to know.

You think they're going to wait another 2+ years to capture those structural efficiencies...?

So will it be 2028 after Polaris, or 20% cut in Spring within the next 6 months? Or both?

Good and qualified people are leaving for greener pastures, those remain are close to retirement and/or unable to leave.

If anything, it’s obvious after Polaris is implemented, there will be a ton of people that no longer will have a role. Whether they were on the Polaris team which will be disbanded or whether they were in a job that was made “more efficient” due to Polaris. So by 2028-2029ish expect a significant cut in the US.

I guess I’m lost. What’s the news here. Since we came on in 2009 it’s evident there is a disconnect from top/down and left to right. The pds runs the show no matter what HR wants or doesn’t want. It’s a free for all. The lack of integrity is the norm. Can’t sit till it’s over.

@ax You are a smart person. I have had CEO on company wide Teams meeting swear to heaven there would be no layoffs, just pay reductions. Call end, boss called, I was terminated, I said “She lied”, boss said yep. He was surprised I said ok, he thought I would be mad. I had already decided it was time to jump when reduction was even mentioned. Many many moons ago, a contractor pulled me aside and told me not to be like the other suits, loyalty does not get rewarded anymore.

@dq+1 Low interest rate? Are you joking or are you just ignorant?

20% to be moved out of the company from campus within the next 6 months.

Believe nothing DW says, they'll always say situation is different even if they have the decency to acknowledge their changed position.

Remember the US has the most expensive employees in the Exxon circuit and the company only cares about cost. If this is considered blindsiding then unfortunately you must take that on the chin. The direction of travel for HC10 is obvious and the US will not be excluded. It is just a matter of timing. US employees can be moved out much much faster than employees in most other parts of the world.

@cw maybe the people who vountarily left and retired en mass saved the rest of you from layoffs. with the low interest rate they just need to PIP the REs to make them all retire once they reach 55.
the rest of the HC9s don't have lucrative pension like the US and in Europe people work as long as they can

The U.S. has silently removing people to an art through the PDS system. They can silently get rid of excess by department by raising the threshold of the lower rank group.

Management (DW) will tell employees that cuts are not coming to the U.S. to prevent a mass exdeus. The truth is that employees are leaving in droves or going out on sick leave and there's not enough HR managers to handle the case load. For example, Baton Rouge has lost a ton of engineers over the last year

@a2 You believe what an executive tells you?

If anything you should take what he said as instructions to go find another job. Every layoff cycle I’ve been through at every company was preceded by the CEO and management swearing up and down that it would never happen a few months earlier.

Wait until they figure out how to bring more Indians to the US. Field jobs will be more at risk.

Indian’s might replace the people at the Houston campus that don’t actually work and get paid way too much, but they will have a hard time replacing the employees out in the field actually bringing in money for the company.

P.S. if you have to do a PDS every year to highlight/prove you actually did something for the company then your job is probably something that can be sent to India where they work for pennies on the dollar.

this is like post #5 since DW's email out to everyone, asking whether the us is impacted. dw specifically called out no impact in the US, didn't he? you all don't read? it's just americans thinking everything is about them, as usual. no wonder xanax sells so well there
