Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Verizon CEO Dan Schulman calls for 'full reboot'

In a research note, MoffettNathanson analyst Craig Moffett said Schulman "described a shift towards being a customer-centric company, with the 'best value proposition' in the market. There is a clear focus on subscriber metrics. He called it a 'full reboot.' The obvious question is… how? Verizon is no longer perceived to have the best network. And it is perceived to have the highest prices. His promise to reverse subscriber losses without relying on promotions and price strikes us as more of a wish than a strategy."

Corporatespeak. I hate coporatespeak.

The core of the issue is the failed 5G gambit. VZ leased the absolute worst bandwidth in all of 5G. VZ bandwidth is very tight, does not transmit very far and takes a lot of power to generate.

Second issue is back end system performance. It hinders customer service interaction and is leeching into our network work performance. Datasys taking over IT was terrible. Thier model has failed.

Speaking of customer service- they oversea vendors are creating a terrible "customer journey" (worst corporatespeak ever btw). Ifvsthe use AI, it should target replacing those vendors.

Honestly the hole may be too deep. Is may have become a grave.

Ugh! They’re SO EXPENSIVE, $300.00 a month to have their service, and it includes ZERO perks. Streaming, plus my iPhone & iPad. In addition I pay different companies for streaming their programs. FKG RIDICULOUS!!

VZ leadership has claimed they are customer centric for years and as recently as this year, in employee meeting. Most people didn’t take it seriously because they thought it was a joke. Dan’s words are meaningless until actual change is made. I didn’t think people actually digested the meaningless catch phrases when VZ announces earnings. Facts matter.

@cn
They never see employees value . Union or non union … it’s management policy and directives that put the company in the cr-pper .

Corporate CEO's, CFO's, the rest of them and their board members only care about getting richer than they are. The money saved by these layoffs/tactics will end up in their pockets. Then claiming a job well done, they'll increase their bonuses and salaries and Verizon with its workers will sink. They are all the same LYING CROOKS!!!!!

I just left Verizon for T-Mobile. Verizon had gotten too big and it seemed like they were more interested in corporate ego than customer service. My bill is about 10 to 20% lower and I get the same network performance on 2 lines plus one free 3rd line plus I was able to add home Internet, and it was still less than my 2 lines at Verizon. Customer service was not as good as T-Mobile either.

@cn Assuming I survive the cuts, I HOPE the union goes on strike next year. The money is just too good not to scab... happily

Hopefully he sees the value of his union employees and negotiates a new contract .

Moffett has always been a torn in VZ's side - at least per the higher echelons of the company; Lowell hated the guy. The issue for VZ is peeling back the top heavy layer of the company - too many highly paid "actors" and not enough workers is a bad recipe for growth.
We'll see if Dan is up to the job or just hanging around for a few million.
